gen2 CPS has been launched silently wihtout much rumour spreading before the launch .
how about the satria neo . it is the only car in the line-up which comes without the CPS for now on , and i am sure that the sales figure for the satria neo will be very low now as many hatch back enthusiast is waiting for the launch of that car .

Proton Exploring Next Generation 1.8 And 2.0 Engines

KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 (Bernama) -- National car manufacturer, Proton Holdings Bhd is looking at exploring the next generation 1.8 and 2.0 litre engines and a diesel-powered vehicle as part of its five-year project, managing director, Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said.

"Work is on the way to explore the next generation 1.8 and 2.0 litre engines. The route that we are going is to work with a partner. We are in discussion with several parties and by the middle of this year, we will announce who we will be working with," he told reporters after the new Gen2 model was unveiled here today.

Syed Zainal said Proton should be having the new capacity engines as it moves forward to the higher segment car market.

"We are also looking at a diesel programme."

As most of the market today is migrating from petrol to diesel, it is important for Proton not to be left behind, he said.

Proton is looking to work with foreign partners with expertise in developing a diesel-powered vehicle.

"It is a mistake if we don't have a diesel engine for our car," he said, adding that Proton also did not want to spend large amounts of money to develop the engine all by itself.

"There are people out there willing to collaborate and share a diesel technology and we just have to find the right partner to do the engine," he said.

Syed Zainal added that the demand was huge for diesel-powered vehicles especially in India and China.

Proton was incorporated on May 7, 1983 to manufacture, assemble and sell motor vehicles and related products, including accessories, spare part and other components.

Its models include the Waja, Perdana V6, Persona, Gen2, Satria GTi, Arena, Satria Neo, Savvy and Juara.
