what to look out when change string gauss?, 1st time

i just bought a pack of guitar string. then its not the same gauss as the 1 im using now. anything i need to look out when changing string? this is the 1st time i change string. im using a gsa60. a strat. have a tremelo but i nvr use it. i heard from soulfly, i need to do some adjust when i change string gauss. but i dunno what adjust i need to do. i have seen some youtube vid for how to change string. but they didnt mention anything i need to look out for. any help? do you guys know what gauss is this? it didnt mention This post has been edited by jikolo: Mar 1 2008, 07:20 PM

What gauge is your string?9's to 10's shouldn't be a problem.

oh man, that store just ripped you off. looks like they kept the d'addario box cos they want the points so can redeem free stuff later.
somemore charge RM25 for it...

Yeah. Total rip off. And it's GAUGE...... not GAUSS.
You don't HAVE to re-setup. The gauges you bought is pretty standard. Unless you're doing something crazy like .70s or something like that, you won't need to resetup.
Also, next time, buy a String winder and cutter. It'll save your already aching arms.

i have string winder and cutter. well, not standard cutter, those cut wire 1. i cant find a string cutter in here

9s change to 10s
u cud check the neck relief abit may b u wana make it tighter....
if the trem is nt in usage... jz lock the springs at the back dead and lock all the screws no further worries

how to tell if the neck is at standard or is stress? or is relieved?
i think my trem is locked dead. i think. how to check?

changing from .09 to .10 wouldn't cause much problem unless your guitar has been setup for really low action/little relieve with the .09 strings. so by factory standard, it shouldn't cause any problem to the neck and action. the problem may come from your trem bridge. you might need to tighten the springs. OT: what can you do with the d'addario's packaging? how to redeem it? i have a bunch of 'em that i refuse to throw out  . This post has been edited by zeroglyph: Mar 3 2008, 11:16 AM
