This is a REAL guitar and you need to play REAL strings.

It combines guitar hero style gameplay but on a REAL guitar, real song tabs.

This is what we should be getting, not the lame ass Guitar Hero lame crap.

At least this new game RESPECTS what a real guitar stands for.

Those who spent time playing this sort of game would really learn how to play a real song on a real instrument.

I respect the game developers who developed this because this means they have to apply some advanced signal processing algorithms in REAL time to detect the note/pitch you picked on the guitar to match their tab database.

This is much more challenging to program than the cheesy assed guitar hero game that anyone could code up in less than a week.

Yeah, but if you haven't played Guitar Hero, you should really play it. It's fun as hell and bonus, it warms up your fingers pretty good so it's a great game to play before practicing! Yay!

No way, if you already have a guitar you just need the software.

Basically, it works like your typical Computer based tuner, right through the mic-in port.
You can get a jack convertor from big to small for only a few ringgit.

It's expensive only if you don't already have an electric guitar.

I think if one wants to play games like these it means they are interested in guitars and would invest in a real guitar anyway, even if it's a cheap one, and they don't need to buy a tuner since I believe it would be easy to implement one in the game.

Where's the fun factor in this? The selling point of games like Guitar Hero & Rock Band is that it's so accessible and even people who has absolutely no musical knowledge could get into them.

It's the same as telling Fifa players to go for real footie or CS players to pick up a real gun instead.

Good point!

The whole idea of these kinda games it can help people realize some of their fantasies aka Being a Guitar Rock Star etc etc. Even if some people could play real guitar very well, it may not be easy for them to find a great backing band like those in Guitar Hero, much less get awesome applause!

No lah, you got it all wrong Ledzep... Guitar Hero, CS etc. all for cheaters. Like imagine you play CS, if you remove the trigger guard from the gun or tilt the gun up a bit, sure can shoot faster one...

Still, the whole idea of fun is to play something that you would not normally or can do in real life.
I see this "game" as a practice tool rather then a full fledged game. I'm sure for people like us, it'll be fun as hell, but I don't think the average Joe would find Sweep picking arpeggios repeatedly much "fun"

you need a game to help you practice? I thought a metronome was enough

A Metronome IS a high-score.
Imagine, every BPM higher is another stop closer to Petrucci's high score!

For me, Guitar Rising looked cool at first, but then I realized that I'm already 'playing' Guitar Pro and Power Tabs. I'm probably weird but I like playing along with those programs. The midi sound isn't that bad, and if u play around with RSE it can probably sound decent.

As for Guitar Hero...I love it. Along with other rhythm games like Frequency, Amplitude, Beatmania, etc. I think the best thing that differs from playing a real instrument is competition. Beating ppl in VS and trash talking is alot of fun. But if you're playing a real instrument better than someone and talking down on them, it just makes you a jack***.
