Hey guys!

Everyone knows F-Zero GX. The best racing game ever, period. For the GC. The hardest and prettiest, a perfect game. So there's an arcade version of it too, F-Zero AX. You can put your GC memory card into the AX machine while playing and it will unlock the arcade specific drivers and courses (if you're good enough) for you to play in your Gamecube F-Zero GX game. Awesome!

Just one problem, F-Zero AX machines are incredibly rare! In USA, Europe and Asia I've only seen a single one and that was in Jusco, in Mid-Valley Megamall, KL. Too bad it was situated in this "drop your kids here"-corner and the seat was totally set up for kids. No way an adult man can fit in there. If I can't locate any other F-Zero AX machines I'll try to cram myself in there next time I'm visiting KL..

So, anyone else found any AX machines? Singapore, JB, KL? Maybe even Penang? =)

Thanks!

I think the only franchise that has them is Jusco. I have noticed the machine in a few of their complexes, but it is the Japanese version. I'm unsure that those work with US versions of F-zero GX.

I contend about greatest tho. playing that story mode with the Keanu Reeves style BOMB on your vehicle thing has left me with emotional scars.
If you've seen the resolution to that episode you would understand.

Hmm that's a rather good point! I'd be a bit concerned, because if you play a JP GC game on an USA/Euro GC (Freeloader disc or modded), the game will actually format your memory card. Now everyone who's played F-Zero GX and beat some of the Master cups knows how damn hard and annoying it would be to do it again, so I'd HATE to see my F-Zero saves go..

It might not do that tho, because it's not really creating a new save slot but barely changing a few flags on an existing save..it's just a few bytes and wouldn't that be cruel for Ninty/Sega to "set up us the bomb", so to speak, on their faithful followers..

I damn right need to find an AX machine so I can get the new tracks and the machines. There's no way I can or will ever beat story story mode chapters of Very Hard, I can't even do the two last ones on Normal. So no way can I unlock the AX stuff by playing GX.

Anyone notice if the AX machines in other Juscos have been set up for kids or so that actual adults can play? I admit I'm kinda tall (like 187cm) but I don't think any adult out there can fit into the machine at Jusco Mid Valley..

Well, I'll just see if I can fit myself in there =D Last time in KL I thought it looked so small I was thinking the girls running the token counter must be laughing their asses off if I try to do it so didn't dare, heheh =)

So, anyone tried their USA save memcards on these JP AXes, unlocking anything?

You should the ppl looking at me when i play Taiko Drum Master.

Best i can suggest, copy your GX data to an empty mem card, spare one. then try it on the machine and see what happens. if you dont have one, well it might be a good investment to get one spare.

That's the problem with F-Zero GX. The save is totally uncopiable, as far as I know. The options to move and copy in the GC memcard menu are grayed out, you can only delete a GX save. I think this is because of the rankings and that stuff, as there was an online ranking system too. Just so you couldn't use anyone elses online codes etc.

Now you're looking for the game. Jeez.

It was available in Times Square when it was first out (2 Machines). US version and full capabilities. Cards, Mem cards are all supported. Genting versions doesn't support cards nor mem cards. So don't bother trying. I have no idea about the jusco versions though.

If only you guys supported it enough when it was new and shiny.

I like to state for the record I must have been one of maybe two people that HAD the game when it was new and shiny. You can trust that at the time no one was even half interested to help me spot where these damn AX machines were.

Basically I Spent around 100 bucks on 2-3 cards. Simple Capt Falcon and maxed capabilities focused on mid high speeds. Unfortunately it is near impossible to finish the last track. I can only get to the last lap and timeout just before the finish line even when I'm no.1. O.o"

OK I'm reviving this "ancient" thread just one more time. I tried the Mid-Valley Jusco AX machine with my EU save card.

Didn't work. I had an awesome time tho, played like 3-4 credits. It's a great game and I'll just have to see if I can't unlock the AX tracks on my GC when I get back to Finland. Too bad it only has a few tracks on the arcade. I could easily finish the two first tracks #1 on the first try, lapping the computer racers etc. Totally got my arsch whooped in the third track with the slippery surfaces etc =D

I wish this game was promoted more when it came out, I only got to it sometime in 2005 when I heard about it. The arcade machines are non-existant in Europe tho. Actually, the entire arcade thing is pretty much dead in Europe. There's no gaming halls in Finland, some crap rally games on a few gas stations but that's about it. Then again I wouldn't waste my money in the arcades even if there were any..it's just too expensive for games that give you next to nothing and you pay so much for only a few minutes of play time. Most shooters can be played on emulators (hook your pc up to your home theater, better than the arcades) and F-Zero AX is the only racer that rewards you (unlocking tracks and drivers) for the money you spend.
