finally getting screamyx installed in my house. It comes with a free wireless router. Is that good enough for online games? thinking of playing SFIV online.

I applied for a 4mb line and they coming to check my connection the next few days. I will be using direct connection from the router to my PS3 slim. Is their router good enough or do I need to buy another router. (I dont know what router that they will be giving me)

Added on May 13, 2010, 5:24 pmThey just installed my connection. Seem very slow.

Using a RIGER DB108-WL wireless ADSL 2/2+ router. Is that good?

Added on May 13, 2010, 9:40 pmwhy cant I connect to PSN? When I check the internet connection test -
internet connection = succeeded
Playstation Network = FAILED

Is something wrond with my connection or setting or router? sorry noob question, just got my internet connection...

Help....

(P.S. I can surf the net from my PS3 but cant log into PSN)

their modem router is good enuf for ps3...

since Playstation Network failed meaning its got blocked by the router, usually its the firewall.

check if u need to do portforwarding

I'm using D-LINK DIR600 with Izzi as ISP.
i cant login psn on my ps3.
but can browse the internet on the ps3.
what is the problem?
*
how do u connect ps3 to the router? by wired/wireless?

also do some ps3 network test to see what's the prob. You might need to do portforwarding if needed (PSN = failed)

hi all, i m glad to see so many people discuss about those problems(upnp, nat),

coz i facing the same for my ps3 connection now ><

always shows upnp not available after connection test completed

nat type is type 2,

i can download demo from psn, can search those online players in games,

How do u connect ur ps3 to the router? wired/wireless?

In the past, it was router's firmware that can cause upnp failure. Workaround is to do portforwarding in the router settings.

Maybe you could try set Manual in Network Settings, giving ps3 a fixed ip address and MTU set to 1480.

P.S:I am able to connect to the internet and PSN.But i get disconnected so often. It's really annoying.I have been trying to have a game in FIFA 11 Online mode but it just can't seem to happen always disconnected half a way.

hmm.. for the past 3-4 years i've been using  a Belkin ADSL 2+ Modem with Wireless-G router, model #F5D7632ak4A.. and i must say that it is one of the best router i've used so far.. DMZ and connect to PS3 and get NAT2 connection.. 4-5 bars on COD:MW series.. but all has ended.. yesterday it got struck by lightning.. and now have to get a new one.. pfft..
*
plz unplug the cables before going out... just precaution for all devices

you wouldn't want tv, ps3, etc... gone

QUOTE(maxwell @ Sep 21 2013, 09:52 AM)
Im having IP fragment problem too. I'm using Astro IPTV and it uses Maxis Technicolor TG784n v3 router. I can connect my PS3 to the internet but it says I'm having IP Fragments and may affect my online gaming. Its NAT type automatically Type 3. I've googled around and I need to make it Type 2 by making the router Open Nat or change its MTU. How do I make the NAT Type 2 on my router? Sorry, I'm not an IT guy.

Anyone knows how?
*
as i'm one of Maxis HOME fibre user, i did it as below

contact maxis, change from private ip to public ip ... they will guide on how to do it on the phone.

once change to public ip, you will get NAT Type 2 connection
