can u provide me the link? Advanced Diploma is equivalent to Bachelor Degree but not with Honor.

Most of the company do not accept the Advanced Diploma as a degree. They will treat it as normal diploma only.

I am TARC X- student, I just wonder I graduate about 9 month ago. (June 2007 graduate wit Advanced Diploma in Financial Accounting )

Is my Advanced Dipploma in Accounting is recognised ?
Bcause I heard those that graduate after this announcement ONLY are recognised, not the B4 one !!

well, good for TARC then wink.gif.

i will need to wait for the official news published on the news, coz i cant watch 8TV. i'll reply after i've got some reference on it. but in my opinion, TS' adv dip should be recognized bcoz the recognition is a process quite similar to accreditation, where group of experts and authorities assess the school's abilities and the quality of its graduates.

if it just got accredited, it means it just assessed the last graduated batch, which is TS' batch. TS and all batches below him should get automatic recognition. i cant say for sure for previous batches.

cks2k2,

no, malaysia still do not recognize any top-up degrees.

But, my younger brother is graduate in TARC June 2006 , so his certificate not recognised ??? blink.gif NOT FAIR ! biggrin.gif
And his academic result is just excellent, top 1 % in the course.
(he also wan to apply for teacher, then two brothers can venture into education business)

Not FAIR la, at least recognised from June 2006 onwards la .... My pity young brother!!

TARC existence , "Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) was established on 24 February 1969 under the leadership of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA)."
So, its 39 YEARS !!

Quote from THE STAR page 3 ,
QUOTE
"MINISTER DATUK MUSTAPA MOHAMED said in the statement yesterday that the programmes had been approved by a permanent committee on evaluation and recognition of qualification chaired by him.
The Advanced Diploma programmes are considered equivalent to a GENERAL FIRST DEGREE from a recognised institution."

to be fair, u should ask TARC how many times they've applied for accreditation. the diploma got accredited fairly quickly. UTAR didnt have a problem in accreditation at all. heck, other colleges didnt have much of a problem getting accreditation at all!

alot of people make fuss about why TARC didnt get accreditation for its adv diploma. they should ask:

i. how many other adv diploma courses in malaysia that is accredited?

ii. how many times did the accreditation committee came to assess the adv dip of the school in those 39 years?

i'll give u a hint. it's the advanced diploma certificate that's the issue, NOT who owns TARC.

I dont see anything wrong to study in TARC.
In fact, i do reccomend ppl to study there.
Accredited/Recognized by gov is NOT THAT important unless u wanna go into gov sector.
I only can comment on IT courses in TARC which i think not a bad choice for anyone to go into it.
Why spend 30-50K for a degree if u can get around 10K in TARC?
Anyway degree is only a permit for you when u step into working world. After a year or so, NO ONE CARES!
Only ur experiance will be valuable.

If its equiv. to degree? Why should they just put it as degree instead of Adv. Diploma...

The reason is simple... either the module u taking is basic and not reach a limit of degree level or it really meant for Adv Diploma only!!!

Keep in mind... Advance Diploma is TOTALLY Different from Degree!!!
Degree is higher level than Adv. Diploma, if u say d same... den why this Adv. Diploma still exist and claim it as so call or equiv. to Degree Level?!
Thats wat make it a difference that Advance Diploma is TOTALLY Different from Degree!!!
