I know that Compac selling C700 series in cheap price (for Citibank holder), and very tempting. But sadly is free OS without any drivers is troublesome. This is d feedback I got from HP regional customer contact centre:

From your email, we understand that you need drivers of windows XP for the Notebook.

xxxx, regarding the installation of windows XP in the Notebook, I need to inform that HP does not recommend changing the Operating System where it could not guarantee a high level of compatibility for all basic hardware and software components of the notebook. Notebook device drivers (including graphics, BIOS, chipset, etc) for some notebook components may simply not be available (now or in the future). Also I need to inform you that this notebook is designed for the Windows Vista so the exact drivers are only available for the Windows Vista at HP web site. Ya ,b4 I got this email fr HP, I had been run thru all possibilities that fix for my mum lappie, n I dunno how (thank God) on the earth install all drivers correctly n working fine. hmmm..............bout pluging in headphone I havent try yet, thanks to tell me that prob tooo so I check it out later. But honestly I dun think C749TU can run VISTA which requires alot of memory. Frankly I dun dare to reformat the lappie cos is too mafan to reinstall the rite driver.

Conclusion is dun greed on the cheap price, try to find a good services after sales such like DELL.

I'm got a Compaq V3412TU which is quite similar to your spec, i believe both of us are using same Audio Controller -- Conexant.

Would like to brief to something before that, the latest Audio Technology -- High Definition Audio is require to install the "Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture High Definition Audio bus driver" (we called it UAA) before you install the Conexant Audio Driver.

So, you can found there is a downlaod file size of 5x.xxMB & another one is around 6.xxMB, please install that 5x.xxMB (UAA) first then install the 6.xxMB driver (Conexant Audio). Hope this is the answer that you want.

the file size is just 2xxKB only, please go to intel web-site and looking for 965 Chipset Driver is above link is broken.

go to nVidia then go to driver download site n search for nForce 405, 410 n 430. Download the driver (this driver only for the south n north bridge) n download oxo graphic driver for ur intergrated geFoce 6 series...

I'm having a problem which is my Compaq V3700 Series (V3754TU) Mic got problem ... the sound driver is Conexant HD Audio but when i try to use the microphone i'm not able to adjust the volume & also the properties of the mic ... could anybody can help me solve my problem ? Thanks ....

hi TS, the UAA dl-ed from here, i couldnt install it, the setup start n den after the 1st install shield wizard page, it jus stop like tat only., showing ntg, installation jus stopped like tat.. mind to tel me wat's wrong?

i'm using compaq f731au. i using win xp at begining, but performance not very well and it origin is design for vista. so i change to vista but the sound become smaller and cant adjust it's bass.... and i cant find it's driver.... any1 can help?? thx....

my dad just got a compaq c795tu..installed xp on it..and tried all the conexant audio driver..but still comes out error, said media not found. anyone can help in this? meanwhile i have to install vista 1st. if my dad ok then i'll leave it running vista then. just need help on the audio for xp. just in case.
