Eric,

I only know of the rm38 antenna , is there any other type that is available ??? fyi i'm using the izziYou.

as for william, you are getting 120KBps or 120kbps ??? lotsa different there ... if 120KBps, that would be reaching the MAX of 1Mbps line and i would be very happy if i were u smile.gif

lately, it felt like izzi is throttling http downloads ...

i've got no signal issues and have been downloading with acceptable speeds for a while.

out of sudden, all http download is below 20KB/s only where i use to get at least 70KB/s from these server i downloads... at first i thought the line might be bz or watever. But based on my monitoring, it seems thats not the case. And its also confirmed that the server I'm downloading from is not bz.

To proof my findings, i did a few speed test just now
1) using izzi speedtest : more than 900kbps download
2) using speedtest.net : below 100kbps download

from those figures, I'm sure my signal is not a problem. It's clear that i can get the claimed 1mb connection back to izzi site, but anything other than izzi i'll get 0.1mb connection.

The problem is izzi is throttling even HTTP download !!!

Anodize,

You say I'm wrong meaning izzi is not throttling HTTP ?

What I'm saying is I'm not having weak or signal outage symptoms (which means i should be getting fast internet connection because i can connect to izzi host close to 1Mb connection) but however I'm still getting slow downloads.

Based on your reply, if i can connect to izzi at 1Mb (local host) and cannot connect anywhere else to the internet, does it means izzi has fully perform its duty as ISP ?

What good if i'm only able to surf/download from izzi for 1Mb speed and 0.1Mb from ANY other internet site ?

If you read properly, I did mentioned that the server I'm downloading from is not bz which means "the highway to the destination is 5 lane".

Btw, I'm sure you are fully aware that all izzi customer's internet usage will go through izzi infrastructure before reaching the internet. For that, even they cannot control what 'outside host' is doing, its pretty clear that they can control what or how much traffic coming into their 'local host' as u put it smile.gif

hi anodize,

don't get me wrong, i'm happy with the connection stability as well and have been using it for a while (only left 100 over days). I'm just here to share my findings which could be true or wrong as well. smile.gif

Apart from that, what leading me to think they are doing some throttling or controlling over http download(in fact, i think is overall bandwidth) is because i can see a pattern on the download speed and the pattern repeat itself everyday. Everyday, at 2am to 6am there will be a sharp increase in speed which is relative to the speedtest result i got from izzi site.

ok let me explain further, let say i start downloading a file at 12 am, it will download very very slow. When it reaches 2am on the dot, it will always go full speed. If the download have not finish by 6am on the dot also, i will see a sharp speed decrease in speed which return the download speed to similar to before 2am. And this happens everyday without fail.

congestion could be a possible reason but i choose not to believe congestion is the root cause based on the above explanation. I don't believe most of the users in my area stop downloading at 2am thus relieving the network congestion and start downloading again a 6am thus causes congestion again smile.gif It just doesn't sound right haha

i think they are doing some changes to their network (my GUESS , some sort of bandwidth controlling) cuz their user base has grown by a lot.

from the user posts that i gather here, it seems to be affecting area by area ... ..

for me, internet surfing is still fine cuz it doesn't require much bandwidth and lighting responses BUT i'm suffering on the downloads (DD or BT) and online gaming. Dont tell me izzi not suitable for online gaming, cuz i did online gaming (PS3) via izzi before and it was FINE with acceptable ping rate. Now ?? hahhaha

So Anodize, any findings from your side yet ?

yes vail !!! i was awake at that time and suddenly 0% signal and there are no planned maintenance at/near my area too ..

after an hour or so, the signal came back but it was very very weak , nothing more than 40% which means crap.

however, this morning at about 8am i think the line came back stable as my downloads are going pretty much at full speed ...

QUOTE(Vail @ Mar 21 2009, 02:12 AM)
Because on the T & C it says that a different Usage Limit applies to different package.
Tricky eh. brows.gif

Yeah man, tricky but I'm on 1mb package for sure !!

Guess what , yesterday was the last day of my 1 year subscription biggrin.gif

Another guess what, considered a lot of other options maxis wireless, celcom wireless, digi wireless, p1, jaring fix line and steamyx of course. Haha , and i finally i chose to stay put with iZZi sweat.gif

lots of thoughts being made and PRICE!! and my usage pattern also being considered, although iZZi doesn't give me full speed all the time but I would say sufficient for my normal usage. hahaha .. thought of changing but options by others are not that great sad.gif and there are no guarantee that any of the above would give me a stable speedy bb while iZZi is so called proven(1 year stable connection 98% of the time).

come on lar , surfing the net whole day also won't reach TUPD lar ... unless you are saying streaming music/videos then possible lar.

we are not a bunch of users that don't know what we are talking about. if u revisit the earlier pages, this capping thing have been there/discussed many many moons back. We even manage to pin point out the exact timing haha.. That time Izzi didn't even change the T & C yet and was still in denial tongue.gif .

stupid fellas lar people running this izzi ...

if it is an upgrade, it should be planned. If it is planned, customer should be informed earlier and not after customer complaints.

ANYONE would see through the message they are putting there in their index page is OUTRIGHT LIEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!

the funny thing is, they say this 'upgrade' will be completed by 17th .. and coincidentally, Screamyx is also saying that their failed line(causes international website slowdown as well) will be fixed by 17th as well .... hmmm .... so we are somehow subscribed to wireless screamyx lar ??? tongue.gif
