A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF OF VR-ZONE , especially YANTONIC, FLOOPY, STEVEN , DREAMSLAKCER , VISIONARY. ALSO A BIG THANK YOU TO TIM MARSHAL AND NIGHTRAVEN FOR YOUR WONDERFULL HOSPITALITY. SPECIAL THANKS TO SANKO AND ALEX FOR MORAL SUPORT AND GETTING US THE PROCESSOR RESPECTIVELY .ALSO A THANKS TO RUPERT FOR LETTING US STAY AT HIS HOUSE FOR SO LONG. Thanks also to all that i didnt mention. you know who u are smile.gif

A few days before Chinese New Year , coolice called me up and asked me if i wanted to go to Singapore with him. Since i was on holidays i said yes without even thinking twice. so we decided to depart from Kuala Lumpur Central on the 14th of Febuary. We would be going by train smile.gif .

Arrival at Kuala Lumpur Central.

Arrival at Sim Lim Square on a beautiful morning.

Then it was on to the VR-Zone office at Burlington Square which is a stones throw away from Sim Lim Square. We were greeted by Visionary notworthy.gif , the owner and founder of VR-Zone, who then directed us to their labs, which is at a secret location whistling.gif . It was here where we met with floopy, the chief editor for all things VR-Zone.

It was here where i saw "some" extra hardware lying on the test benches that i couldn't resist taking pictures of.

Feast your eyes on the ( as far as i know ) the only 3 way sli setup in South East Asia at the moment.

We were hungry after the eleven hour train journey so we proceeded to have breakfast at the Burger King right next door.

This is the power breakfast of an over clocker ..lol flex.gif flex.gif flex.gif flex.gif

After breakfast, we were energized and ready to go. We headed back to the VR-Zone Labs where we some some funky looking cards on the bench table. There and behold, the new 9600GT rclxms.gif . We asked if we could do some testing on them and our great hosts ( the guys of VR-Zone ) said go ahead, lol more like teh responce we got was , did i say no ? sweat.gif sweat.gif lol... . So we proceeded in setting up the setup.

Couldn't sleep so on with the pictures smile.gif

As the post above said. We had a fully modded 3870x2 with us. When we got to the VR-Zone lab the next day, we didn't hesitate at all to start insulating the card and mounting some pots on them. We will be using a pair of custom Duniek pots. Also a delta FFB added to help cool down the "known to be really hot" PWM.

Mounted.

We then proceeded to test the motherboard that we would be using for the day. The ultra rare Foxconn x48 BlackOps motherboard. If im not mistaken the only one in South East Asia according to floopy. This was the very board the great Shamino /Lardarse / Peter brought back when he returned from Taiwan for the Chinese New Year holidays to bench with the VR-Zone guys. He left one day before we arrived. We had missed the chance to bench with one of the best over clockers in the world. Anyway we asked if we could use it for ln2 and being the super hosts that the VR-Zone guys are, they said go ahead.

Air testing with QX9770 and Mushkin DDR3 ES

We discovered some really weird problems with the multiplier setting, and put it down to the bios is not being up to date. So i sent a personal message to Shamino / Lardarse / Peter instantly for a new bios. Unfortunately i didn't get a reply until we were done for the day and headed back to our place at woodlands for the night. Thats when i checked my personal message inbox and got a reply. in it was a document on how to work around the bios bugs and also the (supposedly) best 2.bin bios.

Will continue with the story after some pictures smile.gif

A shot of the BlackOps with the pot mounted. smile.gif

Unfortunately even with the new bios and instructions on how to work around the bugs we had still encountered weird problems. Random reboots and lock ups at POST. So we decided to use the Gigabyte x48DQ6 that the VR-Zone guys had lying around.

A 5 minute insulation done and all setup.

And its ready for LN2. smile.gif

But bad luck was with us the whole time. We had funny crashes at the end of GT3 in 3dMark 06 at the same time , continuously no matter what we did. We suspected a bad 3dMark install or a driver issue because 3dmark ran fine with the 2600XT we had for air testing. In the end we had to settle for some low SuperPi 1m scores.

So on we went. setting everything up. We were surprised when the QX9770 was able to boot up at -140 ( cold boot ) and only cold bugs at -160 ish under 3d load.

Again bad luck stuck as we struggled with the boards memory divider.

We again had a 3870x2 to play with this time with slightly different Vmods. Pictures taken from Tims thread here http://www.i4memory.com/showthread.php?t=5442
