 Air flow IN or OUT?, which must be follow

Hi.
I have a question. People thinking bout installing extra and powerful fan inside PC. The question is, which must be consider more? Is it the air flow into casing is more important or air flow (suck) from inside PC to out is more important?

In my opinion...

1)air flow into casing can cause problem like it will suck all dust that can't see by our naked eyes rather than reduce temperature inside PC. Dust can act as an insulator and cause case temperatures to rise. Dust can act as a sponge and absorb moisture from the air, eventually causing possible corrosion of components.

2) air flow out from PC (Sucking), i think this would be better because it will suck all hot and high temperature air inside PC and even DUST. So can say, its better.

What ur guys think?? Lets we analyse it and give comment! cool2.gif

i answer ur question..

for
1) its better to suck in to remove hot air to outside ur casing.. from my experience, there got not to much dust will clogging inside ur casing.. there are no such thing as dust absorb water (wap air) n damaging ur pc hardware if u well awareness of ur casing condition.. always clean up ur casing..

2) to let only suck out hot air for ur casing.. i have find this method fail to prove to cool ur casing..

3) a better way is.. u must got a fan that will suck in cool air and suck out hot air.. put ur fan into critical area.. trust me.. ur pc can have a cool operation..

4) clean up dust inside ur casing every 6 month.. do this maintenance to increase ur pc hardware life span.. thumbup.gif

IMO, it's better to balance out. If you only have air going out of the case, there will still be dust since air will come in from the holes and other parts of the case.

More importantly is to make sure that the air flows to where you want it and gets exhausted out. Too many fans at the wrong places will cause turbulence and lots of noise smile.gif

ur perceptions of dust is a lil off imho.....

1/ yeah air sucking in will suck in dust....but with filters its a good thing...then u can CONTROL ur dust intake to a few certain points only...

2/ suck out dust? if got oso very little...but if u concentrate on exhausting air in ur case... the negative pressure will cause dust to be sucked in from every other place like nooks and crannies of ur side panel, rom bays, usb ports etc etc. harder to CONTROL ur dust intake.

imho negative pressure is better than positive...just make sure the difference isnt that much.

also like hondy_wave mentioned...concentrating on exhausting hot air from critical areas should be practiced... i do that for my GCs and temps are good.

This is definitely. It still depends on what type of filters you will be using and the intake fan as well. smile.gif

err..sorry noob questions here:

1. is it size doesnt matter ?? like front now me currently use 80mm and back 120mm

2. at bottom casing, should suck the air or blow the air out??

Buy higher CFM fan , 120mm or 140mm .

most preinstalled fans in case follow the concept of our atmosphere...

hot air is lighter so it will go up...

so a good ventilation flow in ur case should help the hot air move up and out...

so...

all fans on the lower side of ur case must be intake...

all fans on high area of ur case must exhaust...

if u worry about dust just install dust trap on ur intake fans....

liquid cooling also seems to be an option...

going for liquid systems is not affordable for me.

all liquid stuff are not cheap as like other accessories,

also need some patience regarding to cleaning the tube and etc...

better i use Air cooling first,

next time when ready to use liquid cooling system, i will use it..

Note to TS on this because hot air always rise and cold is at bottom. have to find casing as such

bigger fan is definintely gives better cooling...

plus...for same air flow :

bigger fan = lower rpm = more quite

smaller fan = high rpm = more noise

yeah...go patch ur case with big fans... thumbup.gif

My friend has a CM cosmos 1000, he practise more in than out. in reverse, more out than in the CPU increase by 3-5 degrees.

i did that with my ex k7

remove 1 out of 2 intake fan

temps increase 4c rclxub.gif

add back the 1 intake fan, temp decrease 4c

somehow, negative air pressure aint the best

solution = try all the solution in da book available

yeah, have to factor in fan speed, size of the casing, fan location and heatsink type.

i'm using a LL A05b, 1 Silverstone FM123 max in, CM 90cfm max out and LL patented suck out and evercool pci suck out as well.

all in stock, my e8200 and gtx 260, idle 43-45 and 40-42. load at 50+ and 60+ with xiggy S1283. abient at 25.

not a very good temp, i reckon is the casing size and airflow. but too lazy to remove and redo. haahah

can some 1 give some suggestion for me..

i got 1 big fan that i dont know the fan size. it is very loud and i think more 30++ dBA..

this fan comes along with TT Armor M+ Fan..

hopefully i can get the solution asap..
