I understand what he's saying here-he changed it to a IR LED, meaning the light from the mouse cannot be seen by human eyes (mouse will look like its off but still functioning). It can be seen in the picture because camera sensors can detect certain wavelengths of IR (it looks purple because it triggers the camera's red and blue sensor).

See if you can make the effects like Logitech's MX518

I think cosmetic is not necessary. My mouse now the paint is going to wear off. Show bare plastic, so the color wont fade anymore.
If got better idea do tell me.
