Just last week, My Xbox 360 unit of a year plus old (bought it at the beginning of 2007) have a problem - distortion of display images. It was a 3 day thing of on and off... and then just Sunday, I receive a one red light (bottom right) and on the display screen the message says (System Error, please contact Xbox Customer Support).

So I send my unit to GH for repairs, only later in the afternoon, they can't help me because there is no way they can fix this as the problem involves an ANA Chip. Djinn's advise was go to Singapore. I was surprise he said that but I believe he has his reasons as there are other units they send and haven't return yet, which will take months.

To my dismay, the shop in Singapore only opens from Monday to Friday. This frustrates me the most as I can't just take off work and go to Singapore to do this. So I did some research about ANA Chips and found out it's an AV Chip that was blown (as Djinn mention) and it needs a replacement for it. Here's the horror:-

That chip alone cost USD 140! 1/2 the price of a Standard XBOX 360 UNIT! This is like 3ROD but with 1 Red light... sigh...

Any help on this? Need some queries...

I had the same problem as yours, if you want it fast and willing to take the risk(will void ur warranty) u can always send to Virgil to repair. Mine was fixed by him

Sigh,didn't know this XBOX 360 is plagued with problems non-stop.First 3ROD and then now this problem.Guess I should kill my wish of getting one.

I talk to Djinn again... he said he won't mind helping repair it... but he also assure me there is no guarantee it will be better... I guess Xbox 360 seriously a problem for all console owners... sigh...

damn.. i used to have the x360 for only 6 months after the 3rod strike.. i moved to ps3 and it works a heck lot better and no prob at all.. u shud do the same thingy if u dont want any more trouble hehe

i also had my 1st rrod (3 red light appear on my consoles) this day....when i off the consoles...pluck off the cables..then on it again..i still get the same result.....do anyone here know how to solve this 3 light rrod..or there is no hope for my 360 to survive?

damn!! the cost to repair my xbox 360 from 3rod is rm500....the consumer at my place said that my 360 motherboard must be replaced with a new one....but now i scared because maybe they will change with the same motherboard....and not the falcon one...and if that happen..i will get another 3rod after 9 month played my 360 back...any of you guys have suggestion??

hi there, i got the same prob. i cannot play game using component cable but i still can use normal cable( red,yellow and white). there no flashing light on the console and also no error code display on the sceen. what going on with my console? some said it because of ana chip. who can fix it and roughly how much

well, if you can find a ana chip (roughly cost RM 3XX) and ask a technician to solder it back (which cost RM 1XX) I'm guessing you have to think first before even want to repair it.

Plus there is no guarantee that the newly accepted ana chip will work on your xbox 360.

X-Clamp method costs about $5. So $5x3.8 = RM19 .

Ah... I'm still waiting from Djinn about my 360... so many units are sent to him... and now I am drawn to the dark side of... chatting online...

...Then why all of my friend recommend me to buy falcon XBOX360 instead??????? The Falcon ver. is better than old Zephyr version of elites or even older model la.....even if it cannot 100% eliminate the 3RRoD problem....

All my friend that plays PS3 keep telling me how many times their PS3 hitted with disc read problem.....at least 2 of my friend sent their machine for repair due to the lens prob (one of them even get it twice.... )and they said they're not playing anything other than game disc........ am I conned?????

Well....im skeptical at 1st but now I'm one hell of a happy Falcon Xbox360 owner. the console will not simply heat up even after 4~5 hrs of GoA + HALO3. Playing online with the world & folks i know is super fun mann!!! I'll wait until the PS3 Home is up to get it. I'm obsessed to good online service. I'll also consider the Wii if Friend code is no longer needed. hahahaha!

and I'm leaving my xbox360 online for abt 2 weeks already since my last off. to download all those demo on a stupid max-shit line.

Now I'm wishing that x360 hv something like WiiConnect24. the standby mode still draw big power consumption.

for the ANA chip.... i know a small shop at Sg Wang with a techies that can even fix machine with board in really bad shape (after so many attempt to fix the machine) but of course....with heavy price tag...RM600 for such machine.

He solved my friend's 3RRoD problem with no repeated call after 1+ year. But I'm not surethe reputation of the shop...though....

You might wanna visit him before decide to repair, the shop is at IT floor. corner shop opposite to a cyber cafe. PM me if you want the phone no.

Djinn told me to claim warranty from Microsoft Singapore only cost under RM300 , if the console 3rod...i mean GamersHideout will send the unit to SG.

Hey navigator... thanks for the offer... but already I sold off my 1ROD Unit to someone else... I think he needs it more than I do... will pass the message to him.

I own a PS3 now... and so far, no problems. I did a leverage check on whether I should stay on with Xbox 360 or buy a PS3 instead. And my choice was based upon what I found out so far from other owners around the world and friends who owns them. I know there are many good games in 360 but then... what make me buy a PS3 now is my own instinct and the right investment in times of need and today's situation climate that's happening to us all makes me get a PS3.

This is an opinion of my own and I don't want to say either consoles of the pros and cons. All I can say is after using my 360 for more than a year and it runs very strong until I hit System Error E 74 and did my own research, I make a choice based upon the facts I gather.

If anyone hit this problem as well, you can contribute here your opinions or answers here. Didn't know this thread is still alive.
