I'm using it for abt 2 yrs and it served me well except it won't upscale to 1080p when connecting it to bd60. BTW wanna ask sifus here is there any major differences between 1080i and 1080p

cause my connection right now is bd60-->1600-->toshiba hdtv and if I connect it straight to hdtv I won't get the lossless audio.(read thru avs forum).

Thanks.

It would only have difference if your panel is Full HD and you are sitting at the correct distance. Else, it won't.

Sorry. This question should be asked earlier. Is it worth upgrading fr my current amp(1600) to a new one considering it cant do 1080p and hdmi 1.3. Right now bd60 is doing all the internal decoding of the audio and video. My tv is FullHD panel.

Thanks.

Dude, that is the million dollar question, and only can be answered by yrself.

There are a few considerations (mostly mine) for u to decide.

1. Are you happy that you are not getting the Lossless audio that the BD60 is able to bitstream out? Are you contended with your current audio output?

2. Are you happy with the amount of cables running at the back (BD60 HMDI -> TV, AVR CoAx ->, etc), meaning much cables running all over the back? Or u prefer all HD (audio and video) to stream via HMDI -> AVR -> TV, making it much cleaner.?

3. Are u happy with yr current setup? Or you upgrade coz u wanna and can afford it?

Then decide if its a step you wanna make.

For me, I wanted to eliminate the cable clusters as my WDTV, PS3, Xbox360 and DVD are via HDMI/component -> LCD for 1080p, while the audio via coax and digital cables to AVR. Add to that Wii, Astro and aerial coax, the cables are all over the place (even if they are hidden using casing) and you have shielding noise problem if you stick too much cables with each other.

With a new HDMI 4 in /1 out AVR (V465), its solves my greatest concern.

So what are yours??

Yup u were right i should not have asked the question as it can be answered by myself.

Anyway I'm getting lossless audio (MPCM) thru bd60 and eliminate all the cable clusters by connecting bd60 ->yammy 1600->fulhd lcd. It sounded much better than the normal DD and DTS that I used to hear.

But now I am in blu ray world, so is there a lot of different between hdmi 1.1 and 1.3 and also 1080i and 1080p? If it is then I might consider to upgrade.

Thanks.

I am merely suggesting the questions, as the decision are all yours to make.

Are you sending the MPCM via HDMI to the AVR?? So the cable mgmt thing may not be an issue to you, sorry as i didnt know yr setup.

There are detail differences from 1080i to 1080p, but its noticeable.

Simple test for yr eyes. Play a BD scene using yr current setup, as yr AVR will output it in 1080i (am i right?). Then set the BD60 HDMI cable directly to yr LCD (instead of yr AVR), and replay the same scene. As long as yr BD outputs at 1080p and yr LCD displays 1080p, then see if you can notice the difference in details when displayed in 1080p (u did say yr LCD is FUllHD ya??)

Then decide of buying a RM3K++ amp is worthy the upgrade to 1080p visuals (and the boasting right to show TrueHD or DTSMA words on yr 1900)....

Good luck.  tongue.gif  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

Bro danny,

If you could strech yr budget, htkaki is selling his yammy 1800 which is quite good performer.
