QUOTE(djdyks @ Aug 27 2008, 10:45 PM)
1 question
how or where should i connect my subwoofer cable to the rear of my 861 ?
its not those subwoofers with built-in amp ... i'm trying to connect my previous mini hifi component's subwoofer to it (for temporary time being while i rob $ to buy a REAL subwoofer)
I got a pair of stereo bookshelf connected to both front speaker output and a center speaker to the center speaker output ... other than that all others left un-occupied.
Should i use the surround or surround back output ?
PLS HELP ! TQ !

yo djdyks,

I dont think you will be able to reuse the sub directly to the 861. The preout SW will output the decoded raw sound signal from the sound source. By any means I dont think the preout SW signal will have much driving current to drive the sw.

If you connect it to the surround / surround back output, the subwoofer will be playing 1 of the surround signal/rear surround signal. However, SW should be designed to reproduce lower freq signals, but the surround channel will contain either the full signal (all freq - if you set your speaker to large), or signals that is higher than your crossover freq (if you set your speaker to small).

If you've done YPAO on your 861, it should detect the connections / speaker configuration for you. Without the subwoofer detected on your setup, i believe the 861 will set the LFE/bass out (SET MENU>>MANUAL SETUP>>BASIC MENU>>SPEAKER SET>>LFE/BASE OUT) to FRONT, where the FRONT will try to output the LFE signal, and Low-frequency signal (signals where your speakers is set to small - redirect the signals below crossover to the FRONT).
