Aren't we talkin 'lubang' here .. definitely must have a nice % la.. if list... well so many to choose from tis range, friend using 7002 oso nice wat.. Besides now using budget pioneer avr (811 ; as pre wif rotel amp combo) now so would like to move up a step..

In Mal, its midrange cos there are lower specs amps like 3, 4 n 5 series below tis..

But if in Sg (actually in Sg.. Yammy s are exp so got a bit of braggin rites..) or Angmoh place then its budget stuff la..

On de .1, optimally a separate active sub saves de avr in supplyin power to power de bass driver (n de bigger de driver , de more current is needed..

U can try to configure ur amp settings to no sub n hv full range signal thru to ur main spkrs.. it ll help sum, I hope..

If wan dd or dts then u hv to hv a digital connexion either coax or optical - no choice liao..

If analog then u r gettin just dp logic only..

Really ah.. Sg ppl wont touch Yammy on same footin woh cos for same price can get better models from other brands.. eg 663 is ard S$800 which is same or slightly more exp than here - still wanna buy there?? Dont forget if unlucky kena kastam tax summore..

Bro I suggest u look at Marantzs(if u dont nid vdo upscalin).. if u really are keen on gettin it in Sg or Denons(if u do)..

Both of tis brands cost more here in Mal la.. tats why u dont see many ppl suggest or using it.. drop down to our southern neighbor n its equal opportunity wif onks/denons/marantz hvin equal airtime.. Over there a denon 3808 is abt de same price as de 1800, which would u buy??

Besides de heat issues .. I hv bad experiences wif onks .. I hv a friend wif a flagship tx919 .. old, yes but still uber exp when he bot.. anyway he has numerous prblms wif his right front channel n lately it died altogether.. bad luck.. maybe ..

N de price of d 1800 will prbbly dip too since de 1900 is cumin.. erh u r comparin price of denon 2808 in Sg to de price of 1800 in Mal - 1800 in Sg is a little higher than ur mal quote.. hence de argument ..

I do know Sg ppl, not tat they dont like Yammy amps just tat its not value for money there.. N oso de Made in Malaysia tag dont help either.. Denon 3803 still made in Japan .. Marantz all made in cina.. FWIW..

Heat is not gud for electronic gear .. tat is a given.. whether de Onkyo amps hv prblms wif tis will eventually be seen .. for those who alrdy bot - nuttin to say but hope for d best but for those who hvnt - well, up to u la..

Most of us do our decision makin based on our wallets.. I do tat too but I prefer my gear to last , even if its cheap, I still want it to last..

3808 is S$1.8-1.9k - buddy just bot to match his Miller n Kriestels..

Tats jus to keep up wif those avrs tat alrdy use audyssey as its base.. audyssey alrdy uses multi pt measurements..

N I agree wif Bro HTkaki.. sumhow doin it de old way jus seems rite or maybe I always sit on de sweet spot anyway..

U nid to calibrate wif an spl mtr to really know wat is de spl output of ur 1900..

Most newer avrs will nid a hi db count to maintain a reference lvl.. for comparison my 7002/rotel rb985 combo is at -18db(at de cntr) for a 80db calibrated output n de max on my 7002 is +3 ... if not mistaken..

Uhm my old yammy 520 only nids like 1/3 of de twist of its gain knob (no numbers) from no output..
