So,have to drop by there at night?
*
Yes, at night they place all the tables on the walkway and even on the road. Filled with people until can hardly find place to sit. Mostly ah lian and college kids type though. So if you like the sophisticated mature type, this won't appeal to you.

So, I guess you'll be interested to get them? Last time, my first pair of B&W speakers was also the 600 series (the first batch), very good speakers, can be driven real hard without having to worry that the voice coils will be damaged. I believe the third generation of the 600 series should be miles better than the first generation ones. It's a pity I don't have a chance to audition them. By the way, where's the B&W showroom in KL now? Last time, many years ago, it was located at Midvalley if I'm not mistaken.
Besides that, floorstanders have better bass extentions due to the extra cabinet size and volume

B&W's dealer is Monsoon who moved from Midvalley to Jalan Maarof Bangsar.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but for RM3.6k, why wouldn't you go for "proper" speaker brand rather than Yamaha?

I think RM3.6k is speakers only. For that price or a little more, can get brands like Mission, Monitor Audio, etc...

aiya... no parade la.. like i said still very new in this. have to talk more with all the sifus here.

as to why i chose yamaha... hehehe... actually its lack of self-control. smile.gif

Based on my not-very-tuned ears... I feel that so far for movies it sounds way better than what i had... granted what i had were PC speakers la.

for music.. when listening through Pure Direct, it sounds natural, not very bass-y. i think the vocals are clear. I tried with one of the Mariah Carey CDs song "Fantasy" which has quite tight bass in the beginning and the bass wasnt that great. its ok for me because i prefer more vocal kind of music anyways.

i am sure listening to some of the setups of the sifus here will make mine sound really cheap.. biggrin.gif

Should have done a bit more research first. For sure those Yamaha speakers would sound better than your current setup with PC speakers, but I would have gone for speakers from specialist speaker manufacturers.

ya monitor audio BR series around 3.5k only
*
You see!

But maybe without subwoofer. But even if you add another RM1k for a sub or thereabouts, I think worth paying RM1k extra to get Monitor Audio instead of Yamaha speakers.

Somebody was posting in some thread about his Mission M3i speakers. Where already ah?

Yamaha AVR fans will be pleased to note that two models (863 and 763) were winners in the 2008 What Hi-Fi Awards. Last year's big winner Onkyo couldn't even win in any one of the 4 price categories.
