Hard to compare unless you compare side by side in the same setup. For my peasant ears not much difference. In Malaysia, I think 663 is a better value for money. If you willing to go down south, then get the 606 like me.

Not many movies support 7 channels so not a big issue actually. Secondly, I'm sure you don't use a full 55 watts/channel in your living room. Last time, my old junk NAD stereo amp with 35 watts/channel also enuff to fill up a medium large sized hall.

true, not many movies support 7 channels but if we bought a 7 channel AVR at a certain watt price range, then it better give out that much. just my 2 cent. sorry ya....

Yamaha's RX-V1800 yielded the fine technical performance usual from the firm's A/V receivers. Power exceeded its specs by a good margin and bettered 100 watts all around, even with 5 channels driven. The unit's power supply appeared to run out of current when 2 more channels were added, however, since the 7-channel result dropped by nearly 3 dB, to 55 watts—a non-issue in the real world., where program signals never demand this level of stability. Yamaha equips its receiver with a software setup switch for speakers of 6-ohms or lower, which effectively limits power to about two thirds.

not really an issue....
