i was at AV something in SWP. they also quoted me rm3600 for RX-V1800

i wonder how much will 663 be? around 2k?

Wow, power, can nego until RM3,600 but I'm unable to get this price here in Penang. The lowest is only RM3,750. Some shops in upper class areas are selling it at RM4,300.

BTW Yamaha AV receivers warranty normally how long?

so lets say rxv1800 is rm3600 and rxv663 is 2k
which will you go for and why?

Heck I will go with 663. Why?
1) I can use the extra money for another set of speaker to expand my system from 5.1 to 7.1 or get PS3 as Bluray player
2) Like 1800, 663 also support all HD audio format and comes with HDMI 1.3 for half the price
3) 663 fascia is about the same with my 461 so my wife wont notice the change

RX-V1800, 5 simple reasons:

1.) RX-V1800 comes with Anchor Bay upscaling chip, same chip used in Arcam's award winning dvd player.

2.) Has more RMS per channel, can drive big or small speakers with low sensitivity with ease.

3.) Stable RMS power across all channels, whether 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1

4.) Better Burr Brown DACs used.

5.) Components used are of different grade, RX-V1800 is more towards audiophile quality but RX-V663 is for budget range.
