Rumah Shalom was set up in 1997 by Reverend S. Arulandu, whose vision is to provide these unfortunate children love, care, moral, spiritual value and education in a family environment.

To date, Rumah Shalom has 22 children in 4 rented homes within near distance of one another- 1 for girls, 1 for boys, a nursery, and lastly 1 committee home where tuition is taught to the children. With 4 homes to be maintained, the expenses would have felled a lesser man, but not so Reverend S. Arulandu. Under his guidance, Rumah Shalom has been able to weather the storm, but barely. With no steady income, the survival of Rumah Shalom is at stake
