Erm well i'm rolling a hunter with a troll race.so i'm new in troll and hunter just wanna know more about this troll hunter. I went to visit world forum but what they talking about i didn't know understand much <maybe i'm just a newbie xD> please help`~~ What i need to know when i'm playing hunter? basic knowledge?

Learn how to chain trap. I'm amazed at how many hunters don't know how to do this. There are videos on youtube on how to chain trap. Look them up.

Not just Frost trap, Freezing trap too. It's 1 of the most powerful CC in game (works on almost anything) but with the shortest duration. Learn where and when to place it, and you'll keep 1 mobs CCed for good.

Other things to know is kiting, pet control, shot rotations, but that's for later levels.

yea i'm also just stun and kill -.- or give my pet aggro or taunt more on the monster first =.= but in areana or bg cannot. it require some skill to win ...

Orc hunter > Troll hunter. But that just personal preference.

Hunters generally are very easy to play.

Before you learn how to kite, you must learn to "jump shot".
That is jumping mid air, turning around (or strafe sideways) to hit 1 arcane shot or concussion , while maintaining running speed foward. (without enemy touching you).

While you are lvling, you must also know what type of pets are for you and what type of pets to avoid. (because there are some cool looking pets come with caster stats, which means they have weird lower stat gains when lvling up)
Just not to confuse you, just go Boar, Cat or Ravager.

Besides that, remember to pick up new skills from new pets.
Every time you tame a pet and use it for a while, you learn skills from them which can be teach to other pets.
Dont run around with a cat with Claw1 or Bite1 lol.

I can see that your armory profile shows that your MM spec is horrible, no offense.
33 pts in MM without scattershot or trueshot aura?
Concussive barrage wont even help you in lvling.
Combat experience AGI n INT gain is NEGLIGIBLE at your lvl.
Improved concussion shot is a PVP talent, points better spend elsewhere.

I know you wanna look cool shooting like legolas or watever dota hero u like, but MM spec is inferior for lvling.
You draw aggro from pet easily in MM spec, you are super mana dependant in MM spec, your pet's focus generation is poor.

Just go BM spec for lvling.
Trust me, it makes lvling SUPER ezmode for you.

errr well alright. so i change to mm when i hit level 70 right? Currently I'm using cat as my pet. My only pet. Yes cat very nice compare to my previous pet which is <wolf> =.= doesn't have dash,invs,or claw.

That depends on whether you want to PvP or PvE.

For PvE (raiding) BM is THE dps build. For PvP most hunters spec MM.

oh.. but from previous member say MM is for player versus player mode i did know that but for lvling till hit level 70 bm still the best as i know

Pre BC every hunter must get through the epic quest which let hunter to know more about their skill

BM you can close your eyes to leveling which everything you pet handle it

MM your ap are higher so easily OT your pet but have to focus on threat control while leveling XD;

beside each skill will follow by a auto shoot so pls don miss your auto shoot to max your dps while leveling
this is the marco for me to use while raiding with my hunter

i personally cannot stand playing bm i feel like a faggot!! play surv/mm and watch as u kick them warriors ass "around town"....then again some bm can really dmg u but basicly just do as goblin says...i learn how to jump shot pre bc right there i learnt how to kite....

Heh, BM spec are cheap to maintain too in raids .
I dont chug in that many mana pots in raids as BM spec.
MM or Surv burn mana pots really fast because their shot rotations weave in Multishot which is freaking high mana cost.



Heh, manage to tame that rare ghost wolf before they nerf it last patch.
Now hunters cant get that anymore. Hunters who tamed it earlier are free to keep it .

Wolves are not that bad la. They have Furious Howl which melee group really like it.
The only thing is they have bad focus dump. (Means for all their skills have long cooldown, they generate more focus than they can utilize it)
I think they are decent buffer pets for MM or Surv spec when your pet type doesnt really affect it lousy dps.

did you mena the ghost wolf? yea it a pity after bc or duno which patch they won't let us get the wolf. that ghost wolf is pretty cool and have a lot of skill too.

Summary;

Important tricks to learn:

1) Strafe shot & kite
2) Chain trap

Once you learn these, everything else will be easy. My opinion anyway

if you have put talent on increase the trap time it wont be a problem on doing chain trap.

A well play hunter can trap 2 at the began of a pull; for survival talent build can trap 3;

You can still chain trap. They changed it so that if a mob walks into a freezing trap while another mob is still frozen, the frozen one won't break. So you can basically have to trapped targets a one time.

after u trap the target, u have to walk far, then the mob have to walk to u.... that time u trap should be finish cd

if havent finish cd, 2 choice for u, use u pet kite it, or scatter shot n move again

i did trap a mob 5times in heroic

That Dungeon 3 Set Beast Lord 2 set bonus is FTW. (Reduces trap cooldown by 4 seconds)
4 seconds make hell lot of difference. You can literally trap a mob forever with it.

Even though im having t5 gear, i usually switch out 2 set of it for the set bonus when im running heroics when the PUG party has REALLY lack of CC or the tank is not geared enough to tank multiple heroic mobs.

BM > Surv > MM in PVE Raiding

The Hunter Epic Bow quest for Pre-BC is a real test to all hunters.
It teach U to kite, Aspect changing from range to melee, DPS main target while CC the adds and etc.
Those who did it will know the pain..lol

A great hunter will rush in, change ASpect of Monkey, slowdown yr target (either using frost trap or wingclip), get out of melee distance, change to Aspect of Hawk, put stings, kite, pew pew pew...repeat.

yeap, too bad too many nub hunters paid their way (or got a guildie to do it) past this trial.

I got a guildie to help with the Silithus demon that one was tough with my old PC, lag, and undergeared hunter

Winterspring and Un'goro demons teach a lot about kiting, very useful
