Source --> http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7242490.stmQUOTE WORLD'S WEALTHIEST CLUBS BY REVENUE 1) Real Madrid: £236.2m 2) Man Utd: £212.1m 3) Barcelona: £195.3m 4) Chelsea: £190.5m 5) Arsenal: £177.6m 6) AC Milan: £153m 7) Bayern Munich: £150.3m 8) Liverpool: £133.9m 9) Inter Milan: £131.3m 10) AS Roma: £106.1m QUOTE Manchester United have moved from fourth to second in the list of the world's richest clubs, as Real Madrid stayed top for the third straight year. Deloitte's Football Money League, which is based on revenues generated during 2006/7, was headed by United for eight years until the Spaniards deposed them. Chelsea are fourth in Deloitte's table, even though the Blues regularly make huge losses. Arsenal are fifth. In all, there are seven British clubs in the top 20 positions. However three of the four clubs that dropped out of the list were also British - Manchester City, Rangers, and West Ham United.

FYI, REVENUE != PROFIT Extracted from www.tfd.com on REVENUE: QUOTE rev·e·nue (rv-n, -ny) n. 1. The income of a government from all sources appropriated for the payment of the public expenses. 2. Yield from property or investment; income. 3. All the income produced by a particular source. 4. A governmental department set up to collect public funds. Getting more income alone does NOT necessarily make you profitable. - if you spend more than your income This post has been edited by kimhoong: Feb 14 2008, 11:51 AM

Profit = Revenue - Expenses...
Man Utd have to repay massive amounts of loans so I'd doubt they hold a similar position should the table be based on profits

Well, at least, the table shows which teams have the most fans' and TV stations' supports (in terms of increasing the revenues) Very curious why the first and third places are given to La Liga teams. Their league is not as popular as EPL in Asia. Wonder where they get their revenue so high

Do Spanish clubs negotiate their own TV deals like the Italians? I recall RM is also in a scheme to develop their old training ground (like Arsenal) so maybe they have non-sporting revenue streams.

Their league is not as popular as EPL in Asia. Wonder where they get their revenue so high EPL is king in South East Asia. That cannot be disputed. But Madrid and Barca are very popular in Japan and the West Asian countries. And in South and North America, Madrid and Barca are the most supported teams by a long way. And if u take a closer look at the list they are the only 2 La Liga teams who generate that kind of revenue. That's because unlike England the Spanish sides negotiate their TV deals individually. And Madrid and Barca having the biggest fan bases naturally have the biggest share of the pie. Madrid is owned by their 80,000 members (or socios as they call them in Spain). And add to the fact that the current Spanish prime minister is a Barcelona fan...talk about adding insult to injury

QUOTE(caballero206 @ Feb 14 2008, 05:49 PM) Is it like a public share or sumthing to RM fan where they can invest money and get dividends if they club win? No the club do not float shares for the public. It's practically like a club membership. The club keeps the number around 80,000 cause that's the limit of the stadium. Not all members get season tickets though. They say u need to wait something like an average of 15 years from the first day u try to sign up to become a socio. Mainly because memberships are only passed on when an existing member cancels his membership (which almost never happens) or he dies. So alot of fans actually register their children at birth.
