Its official, the drafts will be this weekend at FTZ.
QUOTE The selections for the Malaysian team will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of March at FTZ cybercafé in Subang . Source: http://mygozone.com/news.php?extend.613The selection process will be for the KL Taufan team which will consist of 5 players for Counterstrike Source, 1 player for Fifa, 2 players for Forza 2 and 2 players for DOA 4 (1 male + 1 female). Selected players will be flown to China for Pan Asian trials in April, all expenses paid to represent Malaysia in taking on Korea, Singapore, Dubai, Australia and China. The top two teams out of these 6 county representatives will win a lucrative USD30,000 annual contract per player to play professionally and a berth for the grand finals in the United States and a USD1000,000 purse. The search for the 10 best players in their field of expertise for the highest stake cyber tournament has begun !! With over USD6.5 million paid out to players in 2007, The CGS ( Championship Gaming Series ) not only offers the highest stakes, it is also the most widely broadcasted, with over 100 million viewers around the world through DirectTV and StarTV cable. The selection process will cover various genres of cyber games over 2 platforms, PC and the Xbox360. The team will consist of 5 players for Counterstrike Source, 1 player for Fifa, 2 players for Forza 2 and 2 players for DOA 4 (1 male + 1 female). The selections for the Malaysian team will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of March at FTZ cybercafé in Subang . FTZ was an obvious choice as the venue was comfortable and spacious and more importantly the equipment met the high standards needed to run the trials. E-Club, the official distributer and license holder for Valve products which includes Counterstrike is fully endorsing and supporting this event and the local CS community. Selected team members are required to attend a rigorous boot camp prior to the Pan Asian trials. All Participants will have to be 18 and above with a valid passport |

QUOTE(Crescendo MY @ Mar 17 2008, 04:56 PM) QUOTE(k1LL/st3aL @ Mar 17 2008, 05:17 PM) QUOTE(befitozi @ Mar 17 2008, 06:42 PM) QUOTE(k1LL/st3aL @ Mar 17 2008, 10:37 PM) It's not about not enough time of training.. More like schedule probs.. What if somebody already had something important planned for this weekend? They wouldn't be able to join surely =/ Would you like some cheese to go along with your whine ? Ok seriously, if you jokers think last year's CGS scheduling was bad, we all got shafted worse this year. First things first, Astro is not involved this year. What does this mean ? This, Ladies and Gentlemen, means that we have ZERO BUDGET. Thats right folks, you heard me right. The only budget that is allocated, is for sending 10 Gamers and 1 GM over to Wuhan, China for the Pan Asian Championships. So actuallyyyyyyyyyy, we dont even need to be running another draft in the first place. We could just send the old KL Taufan (Well whoever that is left anyway.) to China and dont even bother to go through all the trouble of conducting a draft. But in the interest of being fair and to have a larger talent pool, we're doing the draft nonetheless. As for the delay, do any of you wankers even have any idea how hard is it to get sponsors on such short notice. If you think you got the short end of the stick here, consider how we had to scramble, trying to get a venue. It didnt help that a certain famous, local console only establishment, [names have been omitted to protect the guilty] was playing hide and seek. EMAILs, SMSes and even phone calls to them can go unanswered and follow ups can take days before they even bother to acknowledge. Believe me, if we could have announced it any sooner, we would have. Either way, dont organise a draft, you gamers will be screaming bloody murder and accusing left, right and center about favoritism/cronyism. Announce it late, due to factors beyond our control, and you gamers are screaming bloody murder about it being so short notice. So yeah, deal with it. If you all can make it, by all means come. If not, take your complains and shove it up where the sun dont shine. You cant expect to have your cake and eat it too. Ha. I may have inevitably said more than I should. Oh wells. *roll-eyes* This post has been edited by Auricom: Mar 18 2008, 03:06 AM |

I think it's fair that we trust Auricom to announce it as soon as he could. But if it had come with some sort of explanation earlier, then all this whining would've been avoided. There was ample notice actually as pointed out by Hix, then surely arrangements would've been made to secure sponsorship but since the entire process wasn't very transparent, I don't see how that could've helped.
Perhaps communicating to CGS about our problems has been done before? Did all the other Asian franchises receive last minute notices as well? If so, has the other Asian GMs meet up to discuss a resolution? |
