tumpang thread, since it's about Ibanez Edge bridges...

is the Ibanez Edge III THAT bad? i can't seem to find reviews that say they aren't reliable..

coz I'm looking for a guitar that has a FR system + 24 frets .. and if the LTD F-2E is out of reach once it comes in, I might consider the Ibanez RG321EX which is around RM1.5k.

there more LTD in ur price range...try hittin my signature smile.gif

Floyd rose is the 1st double locking system introduce to the world
many argue that the ori FloydRose has a better tone
and the rest comes under licensed copy units

Ibanez being 1 of the successor to revolutionise tis patent
by introducing EDGE and LO-PRO EDGE bridge use wideli in older japan models

players start to have problem like strings slip out on the bridge lock
since the string does nt have a ball end...and the grooves start to build on the locks
den came EDGE Pro which requires no removal of ball end
so no string slips out smile.gif

wat difers EDGE, EDGE Pro, EDGE Lo-Pro
and the cheaper variations or EDGE III and TRS models
are the materials use....
the expensive1s use better materials, so u got more TONE

...

ZERO bridge is another revolution
using ball bearing instead of knife edge pivot on the usual FR patent
my frens told me its smoother and fluid then the FR units
and its EASY to setup and maintain
however the dilemma is stil about tone difference
tats y u see more FR on higher end models

yea I'm also considering LTDs, mainly the M and MH series. haven't checked the prices out yet though.

ic.. so the Edge III is the one to be avoided.. it's basically a low-end version of their high-quality ones.

But then again, it all depends on how much you use it/maintain it.
The EDGE III, say what you want, can still deliver a great double-locking trem system for a fraction of the cost. Comparatively with some of the other licensed trem, the edge III still has better tuning and sustain. I know a few of the earlier LTD models had problems with the licensed trem also.....

But then, it all boils down on how well you maintain and the level of abuse you put it through. My RR3 Licensed Trem still holds fine (Fingers crossed) and still has great stability and sustain. I WAS planning to upgrade it to an OFR, but so far I'm soooooo happy with the trem, why bother with perfection?

Well I won't exactly do crazy dive-bombs or something, but I just want more flexibility than my usual fixed tremolo bridge on my Yammy.

I'll prolly do a few Herman-esque squeals or two per song, but won't exactly pull off crazy stunts with it..

I sayang my guitar too much tongue.gif

In that case, if you properly take care of it, the Edge III will be fine.

Take it to a professional luthier to get it re-setup.
