Hi Aces,

I am seriously thinking of trying out this game via Steam since they have the 21 day trial period now.

My concern is how is the latency to the servers from Malaysia? Specifically I am at Penang using PenangFon service. Anyone using this service has acceptable play experience?

Also, is it very tough for newbie to gain a foothold?

Thanks in advance.

Awesome. At least they didn't nerf the rorq or dreads. Can't wait to see what Cald buffs are coming. Eagle, Moa and Ferox will probably get +1 turret slot. Might make them useful heh. Zed loves his Eagle, it's all over his killboard, I'm sure he'd be happy. And Amarr ships? C'mon, does anyone care? tongue.gif
We have players in Penang, KL, Miri, some ulu place in Johor, some even more ulu place in Sabah called KK and plenty others. We have our neighbours in Singapore too. Given that the servers are half a world away, you'd see some latency occasionally, but most of us enjoy decent connections, and the lag's mainly from the server load. As long as you're not in Jita, you'll be okay.

Newbs do find the steep learning curve hard, but it's pretty rewarding once you're on your own. Join the 'kopitiam' chat for help, most of us are on there. Basically, if you liked the Homeworld game style and the Privateer mechanics, you'd find yourself comfortable with this one.

What kind of corporation does members in Kopitiam belong to? Trade? Pirates? I might want to give EVE another try.

We have a diverse group of people in Kopitiam...some are enemies to each other and some are just having their own corp flying around searching for excitement. I myself is wanted by most pilots in EVE. Simply because of the tag i carry biggrin.gif

I like what I see in the new EVE retail package. Might join EVE if I can get hold of it. (And priced correctly.)

The EVE Online box will include all nine previously released expansions plus the forthcoming tenth expansion entitled EVE Online: Apocrypha which introduces numerous new features including unstable wormholes to explore and modular ships that pilots may tailor-build to suit their own specifications and needs. All subsequent expansions will be free of charge to all subscribers, continuing CCP's commitment to offer free updates and expansions to its subscribers at regular intervals.

Breaking with tradition, the collection of extras will also include 60 days of free game time, a departure from the standard 30 days offered for most MMOGs, allowing players to sign up and get started without paying any subscription fees for the first 60 days of a new account. Alternatively, the included game time may be used to extend an existing subscription or be split into two 30-day codes known as "Pilot License Extensions" (PLEX) that can be sold to other players through the in-game market for in-game currency.

Players redeeming the code to activate a new account will also receive these special in-game items:

* INSTANT WAR ACCESS: This certificate allows rapid access to organized combat (through increased standings), helping new players get into the action quickly.
* EXCLUSIVE CAREER GUIDE: Accessed via the website to allow for dynamic updates, the guide includes insider tips and tricks.
* VIP PASS: Use this card to invite a friend to try the game for 21 days. When that friend becomes an EVE Online subscriber, you will get an additional 30 days of free game time.
* EXCLUSIVE IN-GAME SHIP: An exclusive new ship, the Interbus Shuttle, will allow players to fly in style with an increased capacity cargo hold to ferry those extra crucial items at high speeds.
