I'm pretty surprised that the kit lens is capable of taking birds photo at close range, with the given focal length of 70mm. Although the output is not as sharp as I'd have preferred, and it's actually less sharp than S3IS due to the lack of in-camera-sharpening, this allow more room for post process like level and curve adjustment without creating any jpeg artifact and noise.

However, the macro is below average. I had some mis-focus issue which I have yet to rectify, but that's another story.

kitlens usually provides very large "shortest focus distance", thus making macro abit harder.

Speaking of this, i miss the s3 0cm super macro mode sad.gif

Nope. I didn't go to A-Famosa this time due to tight schedule.

For #2 and #3, a little boost in the mids could reduce contrast in the greens for a more colorful picture.

Alternatively, turn down the contrast on the A200 to produce a flatter image, and then add contrast when needed.

I like #4, it looks like it was born in a nest.

Ooo, sweet ISO3200!

#15 has wonderful dramatic light, well suited for the subject.

You mean adjusting the mid in the histogram? Darken the image or lighten it?
Actually I'd have preferred a more out of focus BG, just that this is limited by the shot focal length that comes with my kit lens.

I didn't apply any noise removal during post process, I just tone down the saturation.

This is the 100% crop of the original:

There is a clear sign of serious noise reduction already...

If you did not apply in software, then it is the camera liao... cool2.gif

thanks for posting the iso3200 shot.. but at the price of rm,2k+ this is a bargain already to be able to shot at iso3200 and get a decent shot.

Added on February 13, 2008, 6:50 pmtry turning off the noise reduction or noise filter ..it will give you more detail

Yeap. The camera NR kick in at ISO800 and beyond.

Too much noise? Believe it or not, you will get the same noise level from S3IS at ISO800.

Actually I'm quite OK with the ISO shot. It shall not be that obvious at small print.
Turning off the NR will result heavy chromatic noise / colour noise, which still need to be fixed during PP.
