All the same, I'm planning to buy the phone within the next few days. Why don't I go for the G900? Well, I'm a poor student so money is quite lacking, haha. Anyway, I foresee I won't use the WiFi a lot, and as for the camera, 3.2 is sufficient la I think. For everything else, I have a DSLR smile.gif

So please, if anyone can give me feedback as to their experience with the G700, i'll be grateful. biggrin.gif

Lol, I knew that was gonna bite me in the ass! Hehe. It's ok, thanx anyway smile.gif

and yes Junz, I'm aware the G700 doesn't come with autofocus. But the test images I've seen on the web so far has been passable biggrin.gif It's quite worrisome, though.

How bout u go over the shop and give it a try. I feel that extra WI-FI features dont kill when u need to use msn or maybe just check up something on the web? U know at starbucks, relaxing while reading the news on yr G900,besides i assume u wont be carrying yr DSLR wherever u go, u can use yr phone and snap  smile.gif

Awesome idea bro. I'll be going over to Lowyat maybe this weekend. Did go to a shop in Wangsa Maju, offered me RM980 for the G700, AP set, comsat or telstra. Hehe, I don't hangout at Starbucks much la dude, more likely the local mamak shop smile.gif Yes, the WiFi will be cool, but it's a luxury I don't need, I think. To tell you the truth, what swayed me so much towards the G700 is the fact that Eldar Murtazin of MobileReview.com has expressed his love for the G700 in at least 2 of his posts. The man sure knows a thing or two about handphones, I bet. Thanx doomx!

Can anyone tell me what's the latest firmware version for the G900? And how do I check it? Any combination of key presses? I'd like to check the firmware version of the sets they sell at the shops. Seems like the update service is a bit o trouble, judging from the feedback here.

Ty royalz, doomx and deathclaw for your valuable input! smile.gif

doomx: I wonder if all the G900 and G700 they are selling at shops now have the latest firmware update? Not keen on doing the update myself hehe biggrin.gif

I stumbled upon a video of the G900 on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pumrmEZIP4

Watch it from 00:16 to 00:24, can the G900 really do this (not the autofocus thingy)? I think it's called finger-based navigation...if can, wow so syok! Like iPhone, hehe. And what about the G700, can it do that too?

Ah, about time..thanx samurai1337! biggrin.gif

Anyway, I finally took the plunge and bought a red G900 (AP) from Atlantis yesterday smile.gif So far, the phone has only hanged on me twice or 3 times, usually when trying to connect to my wifi network (b standard)...I like the phone, but still getting used to it though.

I have quite a pressing problem now though...the volume buttons on the upper right hand side of the phone does not work!!! When I press it, nothing happens, nothing comes out on the screen and the loudness of the song I'm playing does not change!!! Arrrghh! I failed to check this at the shop sad.gif So tell me, is anything supposed to be displayed on screen when u press the volume buttons...like a 'volume bar' or something?

Any help/feedback from u guys would be appreciated very much! Cheers!

here's my system information:

phone: 1203-6566 R9L004
Bluetooth: 1200-5567 R1D
Organizer: 1205-0647 R6H815
CDA: 1210-0066 R2A

Is that the latest firmware? I did ask Chris yesterday, and he said the phone I bought has the latest firmware. I'm not too convinced though sad.gif

When I press either or both of my volume buttons, nothing happens and nothing appears! sad.gif

No idea about the GPS though doomx, but I think there is an earlier post, by davidmak if i'm not mistaken, about how he uses his g900 for gps. mcm syok je.

Thanx demio. smile.gif

Just came back from Atlantis around 2PM today. They replaced my faulty phone with a new one. I must say, the service there is superb! They gave me a replacement with no questions asked!

My replacement set looks to be ok, I hope it is ok...so far so good. have yet to check my firmware version, and also yet to really test the phone. will update once I have done so.

Thx bro doomx...and also thanx for your recommendation! smile.gif

Here's the system information for my replacement set:

phone: 1203-6566 R9M003
Bluetooth: 1200-5567-R1F02
Organizer: 1205-0647-R6J825
CDA: 1210-0066-R4A

What's the difference between these 4 actually? I mean, which one is the most important one? the phone version or the CDA? I'm clueless sad.gif

So far, after almost 1 day of usage, it hasn't hung on me yet...but the battery went dead real fast just now. hmm, and also, somehow...I get a good vibe about this new set, it somehow feels..."better". biggrin.gif

no issue.  good to know you got a replacement now.  enjoy.

BTW, anyone figure out how to change the menu icon or any theme with funkier icon?

thanx buddy. about changing the icons, u can head on over to the G900 discussion at esato forums. if i'm not mistaken, a guy did mention about changing his icons. whether successfully or unsuccessfully, i can't recall. hmm.gif

Added on September 9, 2008, 3:52 pmHey, does our G900 uses UIQ3.0, or UIQ3a or UIQ 3b? I'm trying to download themes from mobile9.com, and i don't know which one the g900 is using..lol.

Added on September 12, 2008, 12:44 amGuys, a really weird thing happend to my G900 earlier today. it's concerning my battery life. earlier this afternoon, around 4PM, I decided to take a nap, so I left my phone in my study with approx 61% battery life left. then, when I woke up around 7.30PM and went to check on it, the phone was off! I quickly turned it on, showed the SE splash screen and got to the screen where it asks for my SIM card PIN number. I keyed in my PIN then it turned off by itself! I turned it on again, a bit worried by then, and this time, it didn't even get to the simcard PIN screen, just after the SE splash screen it turned off.

I assumed the battery is dead, so I charged it..and lo and behold, turned out the battery was dead flat! Weird, cuz when I left it at 4PM, no apps were running except messaging and contacts, and while I was charging it, I checked the missed calls/sms's. turns out there were no missed calls and only 3-4 sms's. why ah does the phone suddenly become dead?

So far, after 4-5 days of use, my batt can only last me for less than a day. I keep it charged at night. next day when I use it (not heavily, just a few calls, some sms'ing, normal stuff) for a few hours, say by 8PM I'm already down to maybe 20-30%. how long does your battery lasts guys? I'm worried la. sad.gif

pgv, yes...i do notice that the photos are a bit 'whitish'. overall, i'd say the camera is a letdown sad.gif

Added on September 12, 2008, 2:35 amoh, and those photos were taken in 'fine' mode in full 5MP of resolution too sad.gif i dunno why they look so pixellated.
