hi there

Would like to propose we start a forum on military. Stuffs like military hardware, armed conflicts, weapon technology, wars and battles etc. if it's had not already been started.

Browse through a similar to forum like http://www.sgforums.com/forums/1164 and hmm.gif

TQ.

for discussing this kind of things
http://forum.lowyat.net/HobbiesCollectiblesandModelKits

since those seeking the used equipment is for collection purposes
it a good start from there

as for discussion
eh-well
theres kopitiam section

if there is to high volume of the same thing
then a new sub-forum might be feasible

I don't think it's possible to have a dedicated Military subforum given the general theme of our forum. What we could make instead though is a sort of "General Special Interest" (does that make sense?) subforum for these types of discussions. Something like what the Hobbies section is about, but I guess this is for more esoteric interests..

Just a suggestion as many of us might be interested in REAL machines and stuffs like that.

Hobbies and Collectibles are a different kind of things as they are miniature representative of the REAL thing.

As for those looking for sales of used military equipment maybe can look in the Garage Sales thread or Ebay. brows.gif

I figure we are now not solely concentrating on IT stuffs, might as well give it a shot.

There are no local forums as heavily participated as LYN. icon_rolleyes.gif

Hmmm
I don't know bout you
but compared to other forums where they just have so many subforum, like a gaming forum or hp forum
they have a gazillion segregation, like 2mega pixel phone, walkman phone, and such, though it maybe the same
but then the infomation is sort of diluted

i think if the military theme can supports itself
it will surely evolve in the future that beckons upgrade

in the mean time
it is better to make do with what's around to gather some steam
so-in-so to better warrant a new sub-forum

I think this the best comprise one can come to plus it would serve more than one purpose and thus satisfy more than just military/militaria enthusiasts.

Although i would like somewhere besides /k/ to post about my legendary exploding pistol with it's unsupported chamber tongue.gif

Its best if you can gather enough support as in the recent Stock Exchange sub forum creation.
--> http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=535715&hl=stock

Practically for the new sub forum, not only were there lots of topic on stocks, there was also lots of supporters for it.
Just an idea happy.gif

**cough** glock .40**cough** handgrenade **cough** tongue.gif

Should be noted, 90% of the people wanting a military subforum, have no idea what an unsupported chamber is, can't tell the difference between a bolt and a bolt carrier and will tell you 7.62x39 > 5.56 cause it's bigger.

You don't need to be in possession of an item to talk about it, in the same way you don't need to be as good at football as Pele to talk about Pele playing football.

Also legal firearm ownership in Malaysia is possible, it's just rediculously hard to obtain the license and you can legally obtain firearms through licensed dealers/importers in Malaysia.

Ya.....we can learn history from all those military conflicts.....not necessary to brag about anyone's shooting skills.....or who has the biggest cannon......
