I would get a Boss MT-2 Metal Zone, and then take it to JS Music to get it modded like the Keeley Modded MT-2 with Twilight Zone mod:

Majority of the pedals don't come with anything...... MAYBE a power adapter for some..... but even high-end boutique pedals seldom come with power adapters.
All my MXR/Dunlop pedals I bought don't come with power adapters and I have to buy a separate MXR power Brick adapter for them all. The only one I bought so far that came with a power adapter is my Digitech Whammy because of the voltage difference it requires.

But this is maybe because alot of musicians PREFER batteries because they claim it eliminates some of the hum...... or so they claim.

But in terms of audio cables? No dice. Guitar Cables are also very subjective to the musician. For me, of course I would prefer Monster Cables if I can afford them, and would be horrified if they included a cheap cable. Some would prefer DiMarzios or Planet Waves or whatever...... Remember, any extra stuff that is packaged with a pedal just adds to the cost, and most musicians has all the cables/power supply they need in the first place. If I had to pay a hundred bucks more for a pedal because of he added power supply and cables? I'd be pissed!

an MT-2 should be okay for nu-metal...and it's probably the most versatile (AND AFFORDABLE) of all the "metal" pedal's i've tried so far. ML-2 for killing random small rodents with the pure blast of lows and highs from your rig.
Metal Muff is sexy, and you will get every cent you pay for it back in amazing tone, but the price tag is still the bummer for me laugh.gif

MT2 versatile? How do you get a good tone thru that box of bees?I find the pedal only useful thru a good amp. Can't get a bonecrushing tone thru it with an SS amp.Care to share?

Well, it's always at the studio my band practices at. some way or another my 2 guitarists manage to figure out a way to make it give crunching tone for out heavier stuff, and a more "hollow" relaxed tone for rhythm parts on slow songs and also face-melting lead power for our slow songs too.

of course, they spend an eternity playing with the EQs on the pedal AND the amp, as well as occasionally using the amp's stock overdrive/whatever is built into it to create a unique blend. They mix it with the other pedals provided too for added fun. MT-2 as a single pedal, completely alone, has some things that could be worked on.

Edit: Just a side note, it wasn't voted Boss's product of the year for several years running for no reason.

box of bees? the metalzone is damn versatile la. can get many many tones out of it. if you say its only useful through a good amp, its only because every pedal is like that doh.gif i used a metalzone for awhile(borrowed a friends) running through my shitty kustom practice amp(solid state) and it still sounded good to my ears.

yea, he's selling it on LYN too. I'm debating whether to raid my CNY income for my beloved pedal or wait and do some other stuff first, like maintenance for my guitar and bass. FRETBUZZ GALOREEEE, an electronics checkup, and probably adjusting the setup.

it's all up to your ears really, hours of trial and error.
all they did was take the general "famous" settings like scooped mids for chugging, boost for lead, etc etc and just tweaked it to their liking.

one thing is they don't overtweak the pedal EQ unless they're scooping mids. if they want a high boost they add some on the pedal and some on the amp and whatnots..... it's just trial and error.
Main thing is just don't max out the distortion knob unless you're really looking for crunch. about 2 o'clock should be sufficient.
