just saw it on www.macrumors.com so i guess there's some legitimacy to the 16GB 1.1.2 OTB but as tishaban says, might be doctored.

would the iphones purchased at this point forward be on 1.1.3 and bootloader 4.6? if not i wouldn't mind asking a friend coming back from california to get me a 8GB or even the 16GB (if available)

Perfect! Gonna grab 3 of those 16Gb iPhones and 2 x 32Gb iPod Touch when I'm in NY next week. Initially the folks who wanna kirim/tumpang wanted the 8Gb iPhones but this news cane at perfect timing for them after fattening their wallets with angpau monies. I'm gonna get one 16Gb iPhone and one 32Gb iPod Touch there.

As expected, no Macbook Air yet here. Just got back from Frankfurt, no MBA there either.

Dang.... What in the world are these Apple R&D guys are doing? While everyone's anxiously awaiting their 2nd gen phones and iTouch's with newer features an improved fixes, they keep releasing the same models with X2 capacities......

its a tactic to get people to keep buying more and more ipods/iphone/iwhatever with feature creep.

first it was a black and white LCD, then color LCD, then photo viewing then only video playing
if they came out with a video ipod from the very start, they wouldn't have sold you any of the preceding ipods.

Still, the improvements in the iPod lines were significant with every generation, such as the coloured LCDs and video capabilities. These were features people WANTED, and people would appreciate for an extra buck....

The iPhone/iTouch = Double capacities? Nothing else? How many people would spend another RM2k just for more capacity when the increased amount isn't very substantial. Let's say you have an 8GB iPhone and 10GB of music to add, would you spend another 2k for a second device with larger capacity, or would you just uncheck some of the media so that it fits...? I mean, if you have a significant amount of extra media you want to add, might as well get an 80GB iPod, right?

yea... it's true. unless Apple allows us to "upgrade" its capacity at superduper low price... which i don' think it would....

One thing is for sure, this is probably the last revision for the iPhone before v2 comes out.

This is what Apple usually does (release bigger storage, or lower prices before a new model comes out later).

indeed is good buy for new comers which 1 2 get a hands on 16GB iPhone...is the price is right when it hits Asia Market especially S'pore with PLAN hehe

It's clearly that they're buying just to show off.

And it's quite cheap for those who live and spend in SG.

Well the capacity is worth the money with the following conditions:

1. This is your first iPhone/Touch
2. You are a movie/drama buff
3. You have a large collection of watched/unwatched movies/drama
4. You travel by public transport everyday, and for a substantial period (say >30 mins)
5. You are willing to spend hours converting movies to iPhone/Touch compatible .m4v format

I believe these are the minimum requirements a person should meet if he/she wants to make the large capacity iPhone/Touch worth the money.
