ok... totally different culture here. i'm gonna stop posting here already and join my old place. just good luck with your art..

Not discourage u and I can see u r talented. I mean I like the way u did the rough lighting and colouring. But u kind of almost killed my mood to continue with the work. People will start comparing between the two. Seriously, why not an artwork of ur own? That would be awesome icon_rolleyes.gif .

no, of course that wouldn't break down my motivation... the problem here is that people don't take it as learning. like you said, be it good or bad, there's always something to learn. in reality, you'll notice that you'll only get attention from the 10% of the community when you are asking for help. when people realize this then they will start to appreciate things better. but the culture here doesn't do any good to help the artist here to be much better than just a place to showcase their work and fear of comparison.
*
Ok u seem to be missing the point. Right now, Im in the middle of creatingg the character. But when u did it, it's rather cool. That's the problem. Right now, I have ur version of the image burned into my head and when I tried to determine what color i should use, urs always comes out, thus killing the mood cause I fear people gonna say "Hey, SpecGen use that color theme and LeechFever just copied it". I would love to learn from the best but the thing is there are those that just wanted to create their own style.

I appreciate the help but at least let me complete it before making the "correction". (actually I don't get it with what's there to correct if I havent even finish it yet)

Dont worry if ur own original artworks are too amazing that we may feel discourage cause this forum IS to show off ur work be it good or bad or noob or master. Thus the "Art Attack".

Creating another thread here in lowyat for the learning stuff u envisioned would be so much better, dont u think?

This will be my last argument or else this really runs out of topic.

i missed the point really sry. I just throw in some basic complentary scheme, it overused. correction is a wrong term perhaps, when I first posted here I said, if i could be of any help. that means i could or could not help you, but whatever it is, I hope i can give you another alternative to view your own artwork.

join another real 'art' forum and see a total shift of paradigm comparing to this little section of forum. at least people there wouldn't say things like 'hey, specgen use that color them cos yours sucks.' brows.gif

Care to share the name of the forum? Been planning to explore others aside from deviant art.

Just bumping the thread. Here's ma latest work (more like fan art though I dont own a PS3 lol). A bit hard to sketch this I gotta admit and took me a whooping 2 hours or is it 3hrs?... to get this part to ma liking. Dont ask about the sword cause I'm still figuring out weather to continue with that piece, so may consider this WIP.

Wow this is pretty awesome!!  thumbup.gif  Are you gonna paint it anyway? I don't think spending 2 to 3 hour on this is consider long seriously. Nice job!
*
This one is supposedly just meant to be a quick sketch but ending up longer than expected, as you can see from the rough outlines and such. smile.gif. Painting is not really my forte, but probably will, depending on my mood.

Thanks for the reply smile.gif

I have seen your WIP for your IRONMAN, WHO SAYS YOU CANT PAINT WELL? I will break that guys legs tongue.gif
*
lol, thanks for the offer but I still prefer walking than wheeling. Probably I didnt phrase that right. I meant to say, I'm more into quick sketch (cause Im picky about time spent) than colouring.

If the ironman u say u saw is the one at the very last pic, that's actually the final version, sorry to say, due to software limitation tongue.gif.

haha, thanks for the offer but I dont think there are industries with stable income for sketching works. And I love a bit more freedom for my work. Btw, the actual thing is actually much more messier than this, cause I did play around with the contrast and brightness to hide the smudge and bring out the outlines. biggrin.gif

Can't wait to see the final product. Hope it's as good as the "Krump" u drew before.

Anyway, here's a new one. Plan to colour this using cs3 as a trial out when I have the time.

Armored core a lot bulkier than that. laugh.gif Anyway, here's an updated version. Redid the lining for easy coloring later on and added in more detail. Probably still need some fixing at some part.

Thanks bro =)

I dont know how to ink actually ><!! I am REALLY interested in learning how to though, I mean I know I have to use black pens but what tips should I use like 0.7 or 0.5...
*
Really? But I think tips size depends on ur drawing size as well. Like me, just use a normal black pen for now and get it tidy up.

DUDE!! Paint it SOON!! I am drooling liao drool.gif

Sorry to say, it's gonna take longer than expected. Two reasons, when I say I'm a lazy type.....I meant it. Second, a bit busy with ma other work now for the moment and still contemplating what colour scheme and technique to use, lol (this may take a loooooonnnng while).

QUOTE(<< NoVA >> @ Mar 13 2009, 07:11 PM)
thanks!! That just made it so much simpler...

Hmmm ... but how about shadings? Do I just use cross-hetching?

anyway, its alright, I am the lazy type also kekekekkekeke doh.gif
*
If u the lazy type cross-hetching is the way to go (If u notice I also do cross-hetching). Though try to practise shading by varying the pencil or mechanical tip pressure (as well as pen). Most of my artwork, including the real life potrait was done the same way though I think maybe I did a bit of (very light) finger smudging in the end. 2B is better in a way that it produce quite a dark line and easier to make shade but downside is very messy. Anyway try every medium and find ur own unique calling. Peace.

PS: Btw the pen lining I did on my work, is not really clear so in the end I have ta level it up using software.
