how about BenQ S42 - RM3.6k (C2D P8600 | 9600M GT)  thumbup.gif
if want below 3k, BenQ R47 - RM2.7k (C2D P8400 | 9300M GS)  icon_idea.gif
if any store in loyat can give easy payment to student, maybe i'll take that benq s42.. unsure.gif
9600 gt is very tempting drool.gif but budget wise cry.gif i'll go for benq r47 instead.......
neway, thanx for the recommendation dragon silver rclxms.gif

I notice you guys budget for laptops a low, very low. Some at 2k or 3k for gaming laptop. And your only recourse is the benq 42. Personally i wouldnt go for it since build and the looks arent that good.

what model can i get with budget around 2-2.5k?
for office work and playing media, if can play games is better.

ram must 2gb
hdd 120/160gb is ok, coz i already have 500gb external
clear webcam
bluetooth/wifi
not so bad speaker
good screen, 14/15inch
integrated gc is alright, but if can get a decent one would be better since game is not my priority
the most important thing, >1 year international warranty

seems like too much eh.. but i dunno bout laptop, still using pc now, but plan to change to laptop since i'll be going oversea soon..

Hi, I'm new here in LYN. I need to get a laptop/notebook but I'm all confused with the brands the specifications. Did some research around but it got me even more confuse.

Budget: Would be around RM3600, best if below RM4000 (the balance will be throw in for an external hdd either 1TB or 500GB) Can't afford a MacBook Pro

Brand: Not that particular, perhaps if u stream down to my requirements. Initially I am very interested with the Dell XPS M1530 due to the pricing which suits my budget. But after strolling around the forum, saw some review saying that the graphic card is a time bomb or equivalent, therefore, it's out of my list already.

Size: Anything above 14"inch. (14"inch is still acceptable). Weight as long as not heavier than 3KG.

Build/Appearance: Standard. Black is the standard color I suppose.

Specifications: Must have a graphic card. Processor must be 2.0Ghz above, HDD at least 160GB above (is this a standard size that come together with new notebook?), Webcam, Good Screen for graphics and video, Acceptable Sound and etc specs that comes along with the notebook.

Requirements: For graphics design purposes, adobe series, video editing, gaming that can support DOTA (this is why I write off the XPS due to the graphic card issue), Listen music, Watch drama, MSN, foruming and etc...

Please advice. Many thanks in advance.

Cheers.

Hi, i'm gonna upgrade a new laptop here~ Need help please.

1. Brand: Any would do
2. Budget: rm2,000-3,000
3. Specs: A good processor (Prefer dual Core or above), a good graphic card (able to play almost all latest game), a webcam, Vista Home (Premium/ Basic), Ram (1-2gb), Wi-Fi
4. Size: Doesn't really matter (Not too heavy though)

I'm a student, who needs a computer which is able to do work without lag and can play game too.

Best if the laptop is able to multitask without a problem. Thx!!!

1. i will choose dell because their warranty is good...since u student, dell warranty make u no worry.
2. if u wana play all the latest games etc, ur budget seems too low....if you can raise abit around rm3500 ....
3. look for dell xps, see which spec suit u since xps model all is nice
4. 12"-15" is more suitable, 17" is too big already.

if you wan cheaper gaming machine, can look for dell inspiron with graphic card.. it cheap too..XD

His budget is enough to buy a laptop that can play latest games albeit at low settings.

If the XPS comes with Nvidia 8 series gpu, forget it. XPS Studio is a better choice.

the 8 series gpu just need to do some tweak and look for the correct driver then should be ok, but yet, if for newbie is quite hard to solve it.
dell studio design is quite nice too and they sell for rm2999 only which is also a good deal.

Mind elaborating on this? You mean there's a way (via software) to permanently fix the faulty hardware problem?

I'd go with the X59SR because the heat generated is way lesser, battery life is longer and of course the cpu is more powerful. Not forgetting the better build quality.

In other words there's no conventional permanent fix for the faulty gpu. Nothing to do with drivers, it's the hardware.
