you're comparing cards of different class. smile.gif

8600GTS is a notch higher.

8600GT is similar to the HD2600XT.

nothing wrong with it.

people are looking to upgrade already. anyway if you can hold on a little, the HD 3650 is coming out (yes, i have a unit with me now).

i used HD2600XT and HD2600Pro before. I think they're decent cards. I sold mine for around RM 300 or less, can't remember. too many things around. biggrin.gif

but yeah if you're looking for a cheap card, it's fine.

@goldfries,

boss, so ur saying that the 8600GTS is a notch higher?. mind explaning why?.could u tell me which is better?.. the Galaxy 8600GTS OC 675/2000. or the HIS HD2600XT Iceq Turbo 830/1900 ... afaik , the iceq turbo seems to be better at core speed.... and my friends told me HIS is a good brand.

you are comparing 2 different engines. they can't be compared just based on core / memory speed.

it's like comparing car. just because it's got higher CC that doesn't mean it's going to be the faster car. smile.gif

same goes to graphic card. it depends on it's overall architecture. the 8600GTS was formerly sold at RM 600+ while the 8600GT/HD2600XT were always RM 300 -RM 450 range.

HIS is a good brand. a lot of people use.

hehe. what did i mention to you earlier? 8600GTS is a notch above the HD2600XT. smile.gif so yeah, the 8600GTS is a faster card.

anyway, have a look at

http://www.goldfries.com/computing/nvidia-...adeon-hd2600xt/

i tested the 8600GT and 2600XT on 1024x768. smile.gif generally yeah the 2600XT works fine at 1024x768. you can play every game at nice framerates.

the 2600XT IceQ is pricey for it's heatsink.

performance wise, i prefer 8600GTS.

in fact i'll get the plain 2600XT / 8600GT for below RM 350 or i'll go for HD3850 straight.

86GTS is better than 26XT la. End of story.

But between 86GT and 26XT, thats different story. Cannot compare based on benchies only. Try it yourself playing with several favourite games of yours.

Most games (not all) when you turn off the AA, 26XT got good framerates compare to 86GT. But when you turn on AA, frame rates on 26XT suffer (basically on every resolution). This is based on some review, hardware.com I think. Try to google it.

And 1 more thing about ppl selling their 26XT, they just want to upgrade ma... nothing wrong with the card. Don't you heard ATI new baby, the 3k series card (3850,3870,3650,3450,3470)? If you are on tight budget, 26XT is a good card, no doubt. But if you can wait summore and have budget, wait for 3650. Asus release their 3650 at RM340, search at trade zone, can't remember the sellers name.

i like dis wan...
dont need to go for those midrange...
dont believe dis dx10 kinda thing...
2600xt and 8600gt gonna chocke if u r playing in dx10 mode...
for me better buy 1950gt and used it for a couple of years then upgrade...
mine was almost 1 year edy and can play crysis, moh airborne and oblivion on a decent frame rate...
i compare it with my fren 2600xt and u can see d different...
so if u ask me, for d price tag of >RM400, better go with 1950gt...
u still can find it @lyp @cycom...its sapphire 1950gt 256mb.. icon_rolleyes.gif
