The last 2 week i been trying my best to OC my E6600 to 3.2Ghz. At first i was using the Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4 mobo but my friends told me that i needed a better ram than those kingston ddr667, so i went n bought 4gb of OCZ Reaper DDR800 and try to OC again, but it still fail to pass any test by 3dmark06, OCCT, and etc. Then i went to change the mobo to EVGA 680i SLI and even bought a coolermaster Mars to cool the CPU. Reinstall windowxp and then tried OC to 3.2 and i stil fail the test. Really very stress liao, upgraded so many things also cannot hit 3.2ghz, when some can hit 3.6 or even 4.0. The reason why i needed at least 3.2ghz is bcoz the games im playing are very demanding now, ie : Hellgate / Crysis / Unreal tournament, so every extra fps helps.

This is my current PC specs :
E6600 @ 2.4GHZ
EVGA 680i SLI
4 x 1gb OCZ Reaper DDR800
750 watt Coolermaster PSU
CoolerMaster Mars (CPU Cooler)
2 x MSI 8800GTS OC edition
Soundblaster XFI Platinum

The problem :
Tried running 3dmark06, but alot of artifacts came out and then crash after 1st test.
OCCT crashed after 2minutes.
All my games crash....
Sometime BSOD.
Sometime auto reboot.

This is what ive tried :
upping the vcore frm 1.3 to 1.5v slowly
Change the multipler setting to 8x.
Memory timing 800 / 4-4-4-15 (synch mode/vdimm 2.1) .
Disabled C1E, Virtualization, Intel Speedstep

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My temperature after OC to 3.2 is about 45-50c idle and around 50-57c when i playin games, so i dun think heat is an issue here. So i really hope any pros in here can help me on this. If needed i can bring my pc to your place n see if u could OC for me. Im staying in sj and my msn contact is jackmin76@msn.com. I really wonder with my pc spec, how far can a pro OC it to. Thank u so muchh...

Matrix : actually im planning to get a new processor but it would be another month's time though, meanwhile i wanna make full use of this old processor. hmm my friend doesnt haf E6600 , and i wished i could get frm my supplier but i think they are alrdy phased out now, so no more selling. sad.gif

without : ok ive tried taking out 2 stick, but after loading window not too long, i get BSOD. Then i tried turn off the pc n waited, then go to cmos and revert everything back to default setting. Still BSOD!! Finally i left 1 stick in the pc, no more BSOD... so i tried OCing the cpu again. But the problem stil persist in 3dmark06.... couldnt pass the first test still.

Any idea why my rams doesnt work in pairs? I can avoid the BSOD if i got 4 pieces in it or 1 piece only....
