i was really keen on the kelly boy, until i saw its price - usd199. abit too steep for me to afford. any recommendations for camera + laptop 13' bag? i travel with both of these quite often.
*
The Kelly Boy is about RM 640 here in Malaysia lah. A wee bit costly but it's good stuff. And it fits what you just specified. Haha.

I think for a 13 inch, you might as well consider that Incase Ari Marcopoulos. That one is about RM 630 and the material is water resistant. Comes with a raincover that is made with Ari's signature photographs. Kinda kul. I tried pouring water on the bag, it seriously just drips right off the bag! Hardcore canvas man.

Or that F-Stop is only about RM 650. That one you can fit ALL your full gear inside lah. And the laptop compartment in the front is soft. You gotta put in your own sleeve. But man. Even after you fit all of your stuff, FULL ON, it's light as a feather. No joke.

But it all depends on your budget lah. You want cheap ones, there is this Thailand brand called FotoFile. Check it out here: http://www.techgarage.my/category/brands/fotofile/

The Ari marcopoulos camera bag really had my eye on it... But the price is about 227 dollars sent to Aust even without GST.... its so expensive...  cry.gif
*
Haha. Sometimes you gotta be willing to invest to house your precious. RM 630 is not bad for a good and stylo camera bag lah. Seeing the material, it should last you a couple of years. The strap has a thick and comfy padding and I love the way you adjust the strap! It uses some seatbelt mechanics.

The strap is made of seatbelt quality. Should last quite long.

Sometimes you just can't skim on that extra bit babe.

You got a Guru? where to get F-Stop guru at RM650?  I check online direct from F-Stop, the price is USD245 with 1 ICU.  Unless you are talking about the bag without an ICU.  sweat.gif

thinking of getting the Loka instead of Guru as the price only slightly more expensive but you get a much larger bag.  just scare it might be a problem to bring as carry on bag during check-in at airport although F-Stop stated it is carry-on bag size.
*
Hey Cynox!

Not playing you around. It's seriously together with the ICU. But the promotional price will only last for the time being. With 2 ICU is even cheaper.

The Loka IS carry-on bag size. And you can alter the ICU accordingly la. Bigger ICU or smaller ones. Without ICU is also possible.

This bag is seriously fascinating. Heh

But when u mention about wb then i realize maybe is the picture taken with an inappropriate wb cause it to look like brown in those pictures in the website http://www.techgarage.my/incase-ari-marcopoulos/2325/  tongue.gif

Heh. The photo is a wee bit on the warm side la. It's not brown, as grey as grey can be

This bag doesn't really get dirty easily lah. But you know what's the best thing? Even if it does get dirty (which can be washed off easily), it looks rugged and vintage. Haha. Serious.

Can u fit in the D7000 with 17-55mm f/2.8 with grip attached? It will be great if u can make the arrangement and take a picture to be posted here. Im using same body and lens as u  tongue.gif

Edit: and i've been thinking very hard if I should get this bag, it only cost AUD 227 for me.
*
Goodness IKKI! Will you just get it already!

It's good stuff lah. Water-resistant material and comes with designer RAIN COVER. What you want some more? Haha! When you be coming back to Malaysia?

Hey Kin! Thanks for the review! Heh. Good stuff.

IKKI, the Krumpler is wayyyy too overrated. And it screams IMMA EXPENSIFF FOTOBAGG! KAMM STEAL MEEE! I think you should heavily consider the Ari.

Since you're coming back in November, just think about it, do more research and see which you'd like.

Oh btw, the Ari has a really awesome and unique way of loosening and tightening the straps. It's some seatbelt pulling mechanics that cannot be found on other bags. The strap coincidently IS made of seatbelt materal. With airplane grade aluminium frame for the handle

Haha! Feeeeel the pahhwuerrr of the Ari yo!

BlueSilver who posted recently (the one who said she was spooked by me) came by to see the Ari yesterday. I showed her something I experimented with with the Ari. One day, out of curiosity I was wondering if the bag is REALLY water-resistant. Took my water bottle, poured water on it (hoping + praying HARD it will not stain!).

It dripped right OFF. Huhuhuhu~

Dei dei dei.

Water-resistant and water-proof are 2 separate things lah. This is basic Engrand wert.

Water-resistant just means withholds a certain limit of water. Water-proof means dunk-it-in-like-its-Oreos. Huhuhu~

Anyhoo. Yer typical Lowepro and ThinkTanks are triples Bs - big, (predictably) black and bulky. If you're up for that nerdy cameraman look, then by all means go for em! They are good bags anyway

What Ari offers is style + utility. So whaddya want? Heh.

Added on October 31, 2011, 3:31 pmAgain, Incase Ari Marcopoulos comes witthha raincover. So technically it's rainproof - assuming that you won't decide to stand in the rain for an hour straight just to prove me wrong. Haha

kin / jajabinx,

can the Ari strap be lengthen to be hanged like a messenger bag ?
thx

The answer to your question would be YES. The strap that Incase designed with the bag is made for photographers of all heights: from regular Asian shorties to some Peter Crouch (jika reaksi anda adalah yang berikut: "whooo?" gunalah Google untuk mencari. heee).

Got a good friend of mine (who is 6 feet 1 btw) to model for me to show you how it'd be like as a messenger. However you gotta bear in mind that this design is specially made so that it sticks to your body closely and designed ergonomically so that you can swing it back and front to easily access your gear.

Personally I am not a huge fan of messenger styled camera bags. Moves around too much. So the Ari is actually superb. Heh.

Here (don't mind the low resolution. Me uses me good ole Nokia phone to snap this):

Wakakaka. That's cause, as I mentioned, it's not MEANT to be in "messenger mode". I stole a couple of photos from Chari & Co NYC. They are hardcore street bikers. Hmm, bear in mind the photos you are looking at here is with the bag empty inside.

Faez! Boleh ajer. Review from current user of Incase Ari

"It can hold lots more than a camera and 3 primes, in fact i can easily fit in another flashgun and a zoom lens(70-200) yet still have some spare room for smaller stuff like a rangefinder"

Super spacious. Reminds me of that ridiculous Toyota advert. If there can be one showing the Ari with little cameras and lenses running out, that'd be redonkulously farrrneee

That's cause it's empty. So it's jutting upwards. Haha. When you fit in all things, it should be sticking to you lah.

Hey JajaBinx, how come techgarage was not listed on Incase's store finder? I suppose that every retail that sells Incase's product will have the retail shop address listed in their store finder list? Does techgarage actually get stock from Incase? As I know Incase is the only supplier for the Ari Marcopoulos camera bag...

http://goincase.com/stores/index.php?start...=56100+malaysia
*
Man Ikki....must say that you can be quite drenched with paranoia. blink.gif

As far as I know, the store locator is only for within the States. You could call Incase up and ask if you want. Ask them for an "IS THIS ARI ORI?" checklist perhaps? Heh. I kid. It's genuine la dude. You should be more concerned about Krumplers fake. That I see many in Vietnam. Churning out like some little hamster babies.
