i just want to warn anyone trying to upgrade ram in an imac that it is not as easy as the apple site would have u think. the tiny screw which holds the panel for the ram slots is a self-retaining type, meaning it will continue to stick to the removable panel no matter how hard u try to separate them. the worse part is that it is made out of some soft alloy that burrs easily. at the end of the procedure you may end up with a badly mis-shapened screw which no screwdriver will ever fit for that second upgrade.
after having the tiny screw loosened, prying the panel away from the actual bodice of the imac will drive anyone nuts. it is so tough to get out that u will no doubt try to pry it with a flat screwdriver. at the end of the day the bottom edge will be badly scratched. once u succeed slotting in the ram will only take a few seconds.
i do not want to deter anyone from upgrading but it is not for the faint-hearted.
