Pros:

+ Battle scenes still pretty good.
+ Still retains that general LOTR feel

Cons:

- Script (and execution) was pretty poor for LOTR/Hobbit's standard, some jokes felt forced
- Smaug's death was underwhelming
- Didnt give off the same "feel good feeling" as Return of the King did.

Thranduil in this saga isn't that cool as expected though.

Ending is rushed.

Should have have scene about
1. White council meeting to discuss their sauron encounter and their future plan
2. The resolution of conflict between dwarfs and elves , amicable division of the good - after all this is the battle of 5 armies

should have make eagles VS sauron, imba VS imba

actually i think peter wanted to do silmarillion but due to copyright stuff so he forced to make the hobbit as 1 last middle-earth experience for the audience, damn imagine the story of Morgoth can be told on the silverscreen

If Tolkien Estate do decide to release the movie rights to Silmarillion, I seriously hope Peter Jackson produces it and Guillermo Del Toro directs it!!!

I personally think that if Guillermo Del Toro had had stuck to making the Hobbits movie, they would have been better received, and on the down side, we would not had gotten Pacific Rim (2013)....

the Silmarillion too many chapter,
need $$$$ to do it

watching the ending of the war scene is like watching a replication of LOTR war scenes i.e boring, predictable, tables turned fast

one moment you'll have the good guys getting their ass kicked and outnumbered 100 to 1, one second later you see a few eagles flying through and good guys won

crappy as crap

the last wave of attack from the north i was expecting..well a wave, but only a few ekor tapau by thorin, legolas. WTF?
then a very short scene of the eagles and beorn destroying the rest. Not well done

So what happened to the dude who wore women's clothing and stole the gold? Guess he was able to run away and live happily ever after?

Would not be surprise if we saw more of him in the Extended version

my only complaint is smaug scene is too short considering the whole 2nd film is build up for smaug....they should killed smaug in 2nd film.....and eagle come late into battle also i didnt really like it.....other is good...battle scene really good...

Just went watched this movie recently. Overall rated it as 7 out of 10.

1) Dragon dies early. Like 5 minutes into movie. Smaug really need talk more before killing someone... And dragon weakness can be spotted by Bard some distance away. When Fili dies, the bad guy who killed him, do not even bother talk much with Fili before killing him. They were in battle for serious sake.

2) Got many small loopholes at the end. What king of ironfoot going do with thorin dead? Bury thorin, then....? Men of the Lake repopulate Dale town and live there for good till the next threat? Lot of question marks.

3) Fili love given more focus, doubt can see this in the books. At least it brings a fresh perspective into this battle of five armies.

4) Eagle come, bad guys will lose very fast. What happened to the bats that Legolas saw at one of the bad guy town/super duper old ancient fortress? Bats become eagles?

i give 6 1/2 stars for final hobbit.
yeah too many actions..well im not sure how it feels if watching it using laptop..

still a nice ending
