QUOTE(ch@ich@i @ Dec 19 2014, 06:11 PM) i guess im lost count of confuse on the 5 armies. I asked similar questions, but i think the remaining two are villagers and The Great Eagles who arrived late into the battleall it can be seen there are only 3 armies, which are the dwarves, elfs and orcs. where are the other 2? human and hobbit? Watched. Movie mainly consists of the war itself.
Who are the five armies? 1. Dwarves + ironfoot 2. Elf 3. Orcs (azog armies + bolg armies) 4. The villagers 5. ? How did Legolas throw his sword? Like The Expendables Lee Christmas style? However my best guess was he shoot his sword like arrow. == This post has been edited by jianh: Dec 20 2014, 09:24 AM |

not bad for the 5 armies war. seems like quite fitting to end the Hobbit saga and continue to LoTR
5 armies are: 1) laketown ppl 2) elves 3) ironhill dwarves (ironfoot) 4) orcs and wargs 5) giant eagles this film is basically 2 sets of war: the 5 armies war + those individual wars This post has been edited by cybpsych: Dec 20 2014, 06:45 PM |

Watched HFR 3D in pavilion hall 13 twin seats. Should have bought nearer to screen seats, for closer field of vision impact. Nevertheless, 48 fps effects are good as always, very nice to watch overall. This time got english subtitles for elven or orc language, nice ! Good finale to the movie, glad PJ made it into 3 movies for a more appreciation of Bilbo's long adventure. |

Haha... The Eagles are coming... yeah, right...
Okay, anyways, it was a good watch, the battle sequences were good, the visual effects once again top notch (funny how when the battle is compared to ROTK, ROTK is still even more majectic than the Battle of the Five Armies). But overall, kinda pointless and almost no story to go along. It is streeeetched thin. I didn't feel as much of a closure as ROTK, perhaps that was the whole point of The Hobbit Trilogy. We also got a 'hint' at Strider, lol. Once again Kili & Tauriel scenes were kinda forced and unnecessary, but this time, slightly more emotional. Good bye Middle-Earth on the big screen. At most I can give it is a 7/10. When I saw the orcs and the battlefield, it reminded me of how much time I spent playing 'Shadow of Mordor'. |

dun quite like it...
yeah all battle action sequence and most m'sian viewers gonna like it, but i find the battle to be too exaggerated... those heroes like never gonna die wan... few Dwarf against huge armies... the Orc has gotta be the most lousy fighters of Middle Earth.. and some of the scenes seems out of place, like Thurandiel suddenly found his heart and repent or some sort after some one liner statement from Legolas... feel stupid lo.. same goes to Thorin, suddenly becomes good... the earth worms took some times to chew up the earth to reach the other end, but Orc armies on foot took few minutes to reach... wow and Smaug is all smart but move straight into the path of black arrow to be shot and killed... dunno la... mayb i think too much but i dun really like how the final movie of The Hobbit trilogy goes... 3/5 at most for me... great to kill time over the weekend. |

Some thoughts after watching it.
3D is better with HFR as it maintains a more solid 3D projection. Having said that, HFR feels unnaturally smooth. Takes some time to get used to it if this is your first time watching HFR. That's how I feel lar. This is my second time watching HFR 3D. First time was also a Hobbit movie. lol. As for the 3D effects overall, it didn't enhance that much, and was more of a distraction than anything. But then again, I was sitting at the last row, not the "optimal" middle seats. And I've always disliked 3D in favor of Digital 2D. Now for the movie itself. I'll get the good news part out first. This is probably the best of the trilogy. It was action packed and finished with a high note and a suitable ending to segue into LOTR. Now for the bad news. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « All in all, the whole trilogy wasn't too shitty. Especially The Battle of Five Armies. At least you get all out action in a bit of a roller coaster ride. I still remember the feelings I had when I finished reading the book in one night. What a jolly good ride. At least the last movie comes close to that. However, I just can't help but think of what might have been. It could have been so much better, if they had put more emphasis in the right places. The main story, for example. Instead, the movie was too ambitious and tried to squeeze so many other parts, like the Necromancer arc on top of useless additions, like the "mini twilight" arc. In the end, the trilogy came out with mixed results. This post has been edited by +Newbie+: Dec 21 2014, 04:33 PM |

I thought it was pretty entertaining, the battle was rather great to watch, but the good guys somehow can win because a few dwarfs and some eagles came and helped...whut?
And they could have easily included how Bard sniped down the dragon into the last movie and made it a better one with proper conclusion "Why does it hurt so much?" "Because it was real" So much cheese there |

QUOTE(bunnykiwie @ Dec 22 2014, 01:52 AM) call me a hopeless romantic, but Kili/Taurel's arc is quite nice, especially the death of Kili and on Tauriel's arm... Tauriel's "if this is love, take it away from me... why does it hurt so much..." was cheesy but it does reflects truly on how a broken heart felt like. what we had, we ignore. what we lost, we cherished, but came too late. romeo & juliet? |

So after this, the dwarfs basically went back to mines of moria, got killed by the orcs and then went extinct? except for Gimli. lol
o wait just read wiki, the dwarfs eventually took moria back. This post has been edited by wilsonjay: Dec 22 2014, 11:19 AM |
