To those owners of Sony W series 40W400A. Please I need to verify something. There is this hype about 100Hz Panel. I read up of the post in this thread about Philips not having 100Hz and it's jerking when there is a fast action scene. Does this happen to 40W400A? Has anyone tested it yet, especially with fast moving anime. Please tell me your opinion, as I'm leaning towards Sony as well.

I can see that Sony W series is better than Sharp A63M in PQ wise. I got quote of Rm7000, and they are giving me 1 HDMI cable and 1 BRAVIA bag.

I dunno about 100Hz panels but I thought what's important is the panel's ability to support 24p and the W400 does support it.

U might wanna read the review on a 100Hz display (a kick a$$ one too)
http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/Samsung-LE40F86BD/

Here's a quote from the review

Does this mean that the 100Hz make the movie worse for 24p?

It;s there in Sony Malaysia's website. There aren;t any review for this model yet on the internet from CNET Asia or review sites, so that is why you got a hard time looking for it in the website.

nope for Sony 100Hz... thumbup.gif

But your answer does not apply to Sony 40W400A, right? SInce the panel is not 100Hz....

And it seems that Sony is introducing new models for LCD TV, and for W series, the W4100, there is 4 HDMI and MotionPlus feature with 100Hz. I saw it in AVSForums.

If anyone wants the link I'll attach it

I would choose LC42A63M over 40W400A.
Spec wise LC42A63M is better and more value for $$$.
LC42A63M is RM6,499.

I would agree that sharp have "value for money" element than Sony. But then i think for most people, PQ are more important. And i do notice that Sharp 42A63M is rather hot, compare to 42W400A

Here is my honest answer..I own a 32D series from sony.

Personall I liked the 100hz feature very much...

Movie wise...It makes the motions in the movie you play on the screen 'extra smooth.'....it basically doubles the frames per second...you will somehow look at it a bit smoother hence it'll look somewhat 'artificial'..Whether artificial is bad or not depends entirely on one's 'taste' or prefernce...I liked watching Pirates BD with Motion plus turned on (normal setting).

But there's certain movie I prefer watching it with the option off...

When it come to games....

Again Some games I prefer it to be switched on and some off. Example of a game that I liked it to be switched on is Motorstorm...The game is running at 30fps...add Motion Plus...it becomes 60fps...hence smoother...

Some games is not suited to be 'motion plus'ed...because motion plus will sometimes introduces 'noise' in the video...hence I'll switch it off...

Most of the time I'll leave it on at Normal setting.

Ypu have to see it your selves to decide....It's totally falls back to one's preference....

Hmm, if this is the case.....welwitchia, and all owners of 40W400A, do you feel that when you watched fast paced movies such like anime, fast action movie, the movie seems not smooth ar?

toratora, go compare the LCD yourself. And I;m not sure you can get price lower than that for Sony. Sharp 42A63M is around 6499

is this panasonic really full HD?

It seems to be full HD, but what is the purpose to buy a Full HD on a 37" LCD TV? Get at least 42", or the very least 40".

Unless you are sitting very near then that other story already
