Ok thanks guys. My room is pretty small... and I would be sitting from about 5 feet away... watching astro some more... plus it won't blow a hole in my budget!
How about the price? Is samsung r81 a good model and is the price worth it? Is the Sony Bravia a better model? thanks! |

Hi Guys,
I just bought my PS3 today so now emergency must buy LCD tv to play Reccee at Jusco just now: 1. Sony Bravia 37" S series KLV 37s310a 8000:1 contrast, astro enhanced, 1366x768 RM4499 2. Sony Bravia 40" X series KLV40w400a 30000:1 RM7499 3. Haier 42" L42a16 DSM HD engine, 8000:1 RM4999 4. LG 42" 42C7R 10000:1 RM4499 5. JVC 42" LT42EX18 Clear SD RM5099 My main purpose to play PS3 games, watch Bluray movies and of course watch ASTRO. Actually my budget below 5k la... if possible. Don't really need bigger than 40". My worry is to get good quality picture for gaming and Astro. I read all the FAQ but still don't understand quite a lot. I know I'm aiming for below 12ms refresh rate ideally 5ms. Also higher contrast resolution the better. Definitely looking at HD ready is good enough right? Also asking your advice what to ask when buying LCD tv. People at Jusco there not really knowledgeable or helpful. Harvey Norman helpful la but takut kena pancung there... Is there any shop you experts can recommend? Thanks a lot. |

Eh thanks... so for PS3 picture good is it? Well, at 7k its 2k above my budget. No lah I don't think I will get it. Spend spend but must take care also. 5k is my limit... have to cari another one.
QUOTE(welwitchia @ Apr 30 2008, 11:12 PM) I have this So I recommend it BTW, its a W series..not X and it can be had for RM 7K or less. Don't ask me how it looks with Astro.. I only use it for my DVDs, Blu-rays and PS3. Have yet to hooked up my Wii with it.. The only reason i'm replying this is I have nothing else to do while waiting for the damn GTA4 to install.. Arghhhh... |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ May 1 2008, 01:13 PM) If you're looking at 40"/42" that supports 1080p at 5k budget, then you should look at Samsung / LG offferings. thanks bro. Some guys were saying that 1080p not really an issue because most games on ps3 runs at 720... is this true?Else, you can try Phillips 42PFL7432/98 for a little over 5k at the moment. Anyway, looking for that phillips model you mentioned..maybe try to get la. Someone was saying actually biggest manufacturer is Samsung and Sharp for Japanese model...but that Samsung quality going down. Donno how true la, but whatever the case, I must get my tv by this weekend. Otherwise die cannot play gta4. i've check out the Phillips at ewarehouse http://www.ewarehouse.com.my/webshaper/sto...ProductItem=393 apparently contrast is 8000:1 and response time is 8ms. Someone was saying to go for 5ms... and if possible 10000:1, but would the phillips stats be that bad for ps3? btw, its RM5399... if there's a real shop I rather go there and buy though. Just to update you guys that because I got a lot of input from board and friends, below 40" no point buying full hd. And 37" is ideal for my room right now because of viewing distance. So at first opted for phillips 37TA2800, quite ok specs at RM3350 from ewarehouse.
Then because of some reason, they brought it to my house yesterday without the screws. So basically I also kena screwed cannot play GTA4. Anyway, discuss with them and came to the conclusion that this model going to be phased out and looks old. So got Sharp 37A33m instead for RM3690. Woo hoo... read the review in nst last month. So quite new la. Got it today and can now play my ps3 for the very first time. |
