Hi all,
I've few questions regarding student visa's , hope that all the senior can advice me on this
Recently I went to IDP Penang and applied for a course start on February next year, and they told me I've to wait for another 3-4 weeks ( or maybe less ) to receive a offer letter by the college, I wonder this is a normal process by the college or IDP Malaysia ( Penang ) ?
and also my girl friend who are Australian Citizen and she would like to sponsor me a visa's which allow me to live in Australia in the future, she suggested wait till I enroll my course next year and we will apply for interdependency visa, but the conditions of interdependency visa is whoever " holding a visa with a No Further Stay condition (conditions 8503, 8534 or 8535) " cannot apply for interdependent visa, I doubt that all the Australian student visa's especially Malaysian are issuing under No Further Stay with the conditions of 8503, 8534 or 8535 or different conditions ?
I would really appreciate if anyone can help me or advice me accordingly. Thanks

Thank you so much for all your effort to answering my question. Actually what we are worried the most is after I finished my course and am afraid unable to apply for another visa and eventually have to back to Malaysia, may I know does all yours student visa are No Further Stay condition (conditions 8503, 8534 or 8535) ? They told me the student can check on their student subclasses on immi.gov.au . (We want to obey/respect the Australian Government rules and regulation)

QUOTE(SeeD @ May 4 2008, 11:53 AM) Well, why not send a message over to the person you want to contact. Then ask them to open their skype and talk through the internet. It's cheaper that way provided if he/she knows how to use skype. XD Added on May 4, 2008, 11:44 pmOh yeah, I'd like to ask, where can I apply for a Student Visa at Kuala Lumpur? Do IDP help in that? I've read the requirements to apply for student visa. One of them stated that I need to take IELTS test, which is not needed for my transfer to UNSW. So do I need to take on IELTS just for the student visa? I also doubt that too ! IDP Penang told me it is not necessary to take IELTS test as i'm cosnider as mature studentt ( I finished my bachelor degree back to 5 years ago ) and now planning to go for my further study in Sydney again. Anyone can help on this ?

QUOTE(Caedus @ May 8 2008, 10:02 PM) Your visa should have an effective start date. You can go to Australia starting that date. When you check-in at the airport, they will check if you are "Ok to board" before issuing your boarding ticket And just FYI, if your visa was granted before the 28th April 2008 and you intend to work, you have to wait for your course to start, then apply for a work visa. If your visa was granted after that date, your work visa should be included with your student visa. My intention is to study and spend my time with my friends in Australia instead of working, I still waitting offer letter from TAFE, am getting butterfly in my tummy after long waitting ... FAQ: Does it change when I can work, and the hours I can work? No. Work rights for student visa holders haven’t changed. Students are still not allowed to work until they have started their course and the hours they can work have not changed. They can work up to 20 hours a week while their course is in session (excluding any work undertaken as a registered component of their course of study or training) and they can work unlimited hours during scheduled course breaks. Family members of students are not allowed to work until the student begins their course. They are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week at all times. Family members of students who have started a masters or doctorate course may work unlimited hours. http://www.immi.gov.au/students/_pdf/permi...rk-students.pdf

QUOTE(Caedus @ May 9 2008, 12:37 AM) Cool, which TAFE campus are you enrolling to? Offer letters usually are pretty fast... I got mine within a week of application, then paid up and got my CoE the following 2 days. Then the student visa which I did online and was done within a week too Still some time before the July semester starts... hope everyone gets their paperwork in order way before it does They ( IDP ) haven't give me any sign of update at all, and I choose TAFE Gymea or St. George which is close to my friend's house in Sydney
