How long do topics stay until they are purged, if... at all?

I guess a very long time considering 2 years-old topic were revived before.

Hmm add realestate.com.au as another site to use for properties.

How about a brief introduction to what studying in Aus is all about, the tech unis, Go8, culture etc.

What you mean is accounts like the NetBank saver? Full liquidity for students, no minimum, and a 6.25% p.a from Commbank.

Edit: Now it's 6.75%.

Terry Waters is a sole trader who owns and operates a business named Prime Pumps, a franchised business selling and repairing irrigation pumps. He is not an STS taxpayer. For the year ending 30 June 2008 he has handed you the following information.

Receipts
Pump sales - cash received $400,000
Pump repairs - cash received 150,000
Dividends received - fully franked 3,500
- partly franked to 60% 7,000

Further information
Sales accounts receivable as at 30 June 2007 $25,000
Sales accounts receivable as at 30 June 2008 18,000
Repairs accounts receivable as at 30 June 2007 5,000
Repairs accounts receivable as at 30 June 2008 8,000

(i don't know what to do with all these figures on top)

Terry won a prize provided by the franchisor for being 'Franchisee of the Year' based a number of business criteria. His prize was a $13,000 holiday comprising tickets valued at $5,000, accommodation valued at $6,000, and $2,000 in spending money. The tickets and accommodation were valued at normal retail costs, but the franchisor was able to acquire them for $3,000 and $4,000 respectively.

(as far as i noe, this is not assessable income because its not transferable....but the thing is it did not state whtr is transferable or not...i got confuse?

I was hoping someone who did a full law course would advise you, but I guess you'd have to settle for less =P.

Basically those figures given to you is to calculate the final assessable income (income to be taxed). You'd also have to do a franking credit account as there are information given. The receipts from the business are quite obvious to be assessable income, but decide if those prize money are a gift or not. I can't really give you exact details without rummaging through my notes, but that's the rough idea of it. I know it hardly helps though =(.

Terry is the coach of the local football club and is paid $5,000 per season plus a bonus of $1,000 for reaching the grand final. Payment is made in two instalments each year: instalment 1 of $3,000 is paid in May and instalment 2 of $2,000 (plus the bonus if applicable) is paid at the end of the season in September. In the 2007 season, Terry's team was successful in winning the grand final. As at 30 June 2008, in respect of the 2008 season, he has received the first instalment of $3,000, but not the second instalment.

Nah this is not a restrictive covenant. A restrictive covenant is simply an agreement made to not do something by one party, and is compensated for that giving up of rights by the other. I think you are suppose to decide if the second installment is taxable in this current period even though he has not received it.

Trying to enter Big4 from skilled migration?

Good luck.

Last check, they don't even consider applicants without PR/Citizenship. One of the Big4 did mention they may accept applications from those who are applying for a PR (sufficient points) though, but really... good luck.

I think the UK is better in this sense.

Damage to the telco lines... sigh. Getting frequent DCs. Phone line without a tone, and just static in the background.

I raised my eyebrow in amusing when the lady on the Telstra hotline said "Someone will come somewhere between now.... *pause* ... and the 10th of April". The effect of this isn't as strong as you listening it than reading it but if you can somehow visualise and simulate it you'll be laughing. And it's a darn lady gwai lou.

Well I called on the 5th of April and it's still not being attended to. Getting agitated. I'm still paying for the phone and internet yet I keep getting DCed and I can't even receive/make phone calls.

And you don't need electric blankets, just a nice quilt would do. You might wanna concentrate more on your conscious state i.e awake especially studying.

Thank you so much for all your effort to answering my question. Actually what we are worried the most is after I finished my course and am afraid unable to apply for another visa and eventually have to back to Malaysia, may I know does all yours student visa are No Further Stay condition (conditions 8503, 8534 or 8535) ? They told me the student can check on their student subclasses on immi.gov.au . (We want to obey/respect the Australian Government rules and regulation)

We under student visa can stay on a further 18 months after our course ends.

I don't live anywhere in the state of NSW, but the claim of 0-5 on the day and up to -10 at night? The hell do you live, the mountains?

Is this a one off thing, or are you pulling stats from your ass?

Minimum wage is $5.

It depends on your age and some other factors, not a general sweeping statement of oh it's $5.

If you don't mind transit, Thai is better in service/food (trivial matters) and price.

I think KVR has done a good job compiling information. Don't let his effort go to waste.

Granted though, I can't really recommend you searching any subsequent posts past the first for information since it is quite laden with unnecessary chat like "it's so cold...." etc.

Edit: Perhaps filter posts with the word accommodation.

Actually I don't see how Monash Caufield is party central. Every time I go there, it really pales in comparison with Clayton besides the newer buildings and all. All parties, BBQ, Green Week (100% nude people walking around), C&S, are most active at Clayton.

I don't know what is your definition of 'party central' though. I wonder what is your basis of saying that considering you implied you're not even studying in Caufield. Friends huh? Haha.
