is an ID that prove u can drink alcohol.
Is just a plain Alcohol Proven ID.

got another way to prove.
Tattoo..
bring your passport and make a tattoo on your hand.
and next time you can go out with that hand without password.
Tattoo are only allow for 18 and above.

can merh?
I tot they dunno how to read out IC or License.
like 080630-56-5291.... they dun even know which one is the date/year...
i tried before.. they said nah...
*
it really depends seriously... depending on the person wanna let you in or not and whether they are EXPERINCED enough or not, those experienced ones they have seen much enough to understand and read then they will know it... i tried getting in with my IC before though...

and CROWN might let you in with your IC, but definitely not your malaysian driving license, because they said it's just a piece of LAMINATED PAPER...

ha... the tattoo one, i tried with my credit card though, as only 18+ can have credit cards... but still a NO...

Your Malaysian IC is useless in Australia (and New Zealand. And the UK. And France. And Germany. And Hong Kong. And....), simple as that. I still doh.gif everytime I see another Malaysian try to use their IC to do anything, from opening bank accounts to ordering a drink. And I'm talking about those who I told them, but in the spirit of Malaysia boleh, will they listen?

I agree, carrying your passport around is very dangerous. In QLD, you guys can apply for a 18+ card (http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Licensing/Card_18_plus/How_to_apply/) which sets you back A$23.05. Don't need the hassle of getting a drivers licence.
*
it must be your face problem in australia then... i was ok with it most of the time... in fact the malaysian driver's license causing more troubles...

helloo.. i'll be going to aussie in july. i just need to clarify something, will students who come in during the july intake, be enrolled in the same classes as those who came in february?

if so, then wouldn't i be, like, left behind, since the lecturer won't teach what has been taught in the past 6 months?

=S confused.
*
har... wait... let me get this right? are you enrolled into high school? i assume it's not uni right... since we go by subjects in uni...

to ericca: nope, i'm going into uni. sorry for creating a confusion.

december 88: but.. i went thru the timetables online.. and i saw that some classes were full ady?? unless so many ppl are repeating the same subjects?
*
yea just like what others already mentioned, GENERALLY the durations for most subjects are only 1 semester, which is 6 months or 4 months to be more exact. so every new semester is the new start for every subject, and the lecturers will teach everyone starting from first chapter...

so since you said there are full, it doesnt mean that so many people repeating, but it also means that there are many people like you, gonna take this subject in the 2nd semester... and for uni, usually you can choose when to do your subjects as long as you pass it anytime in your cert... UNLESS some subjects where they are LINKED and you have to do according to the sequence, else you are free to take anytime... but i know some courses like meds, you have to pass all subjects in order to move into the next semester or so...

also here, you can find that your monthly fees are waived as long as you are a full time student... http://www.commbank.com.au/personal/accoun...es/default.aspx

QUOTE(ark890 @ Jul 14 2008, 12:58 AM)
Cost also increases as you approach the final year.

130k-150k is ok if you only have 2 meals on most days and be very thrifty with spending.
How much can you get away with your daily spending for transport and food?
Air fare to return to Malaysia say once a year?

Need to do some odd jobs if you want extra pocket money that is even if your parents can afford a near half a million education for your future.Enough to buy your daily meals.

Possible but barely just to make things easier.

Not easy with many uncertainties. If something comes up like if you fail 1-2 subjects, it's enough to drag you another semester which will prolong your study years.I don't want to instill fear but failing in Australian courses is not something impossible from experience. When they say your duration of study is 2-3 years that is if you manage to get through without failing any subjects.
*
i am not gonna comment on tuition fees, as it varies depending on unis and also courses and also they are fixed, so you cant really adjust them... so let's talk about the living costs...

i guess not everyone is so particular on 3 meals a day, and also 3 meals eating out? i think most of the people or at least most of the people that i know, only having 2 meals a day... and i dont think everyone eats out every meal though... and then rental, i still know people who live far from the city and paying only 300bucks per month per room... as well as i know people who never go back to malaysia for once during their 3 years stay...

it really comes down to how you wanna live... obviously knowing your own financial ability, and be rational about your spending... dont overly luxurize yourself...

hmmm... ok i was graduated 2 years ago after 4 years studying of my 3 years course... *yes lar i failed lar duh* but so what, as long as you know what you doing, and in the end i graduated also what...

Jimat cermat a bit loh my friend... no one forced you to come to Australia anyway tongue.gif

Still, if you're already here and the cost of living is a big burden... try to save as much as you can I guess... entertainment costs are the easiest to cut down. Screw cinemas... why bother paying 13-16 bucks when renting a DVD is available for 1 buck? Or just use BT whistling.gif Pubs... nah... why burn money there? Entrance fee is already a killer (unless you're a lass going during ladies' night)... don't drink so much loh... alcohol is bad for the liver.

The dire state of students cramping like sardines are not commonly seen I guess. Internationals students esp Malaysians are still pretty ok over here, but of course don't compare to wealthy Indonesian Chinese sweat.gif

Went to Mornington Peninsula today... very shiok ah, although spent most of the time driving around looking at Melway tongue.gif
Hot spring... WAHHHHHHHHHHHH.... shioknya...
*
yea man, there is always ways to cut down on your expenses, but if you are not that well doing and wanna have the life of richie rich... then you memang got mental/attitude problem...

BUT... NO WAY, how can you have a student life without those DRUNKING DAYS... sounds so wrong... once in a lifetime wei... =P *okokok bad influence here*

hey the peninsula hot spring is great isn't it, especially during winter!! did you go to the private one? where you can go in naked... brows.gif

The korean salons are usually located at Pitt St, there are at least 3-4 between the stretch of Liverpool and Bathurst St that charge about $15 for a male haircut. I recently found one along that same stretch charging only $10 and the result is acceptable  biggrin.gif However the shop is not so obvious so you gotta look for it, it's 1 or 2 units away from Princeton apartment.
*Tetsuyas is located at Kent Street, CBD.

@errica:
I have heard that you need to make reservations a few months in advance? Hmm $195, did they actually reduce their price recently? My friend told me that it used to be close to $300 last time. Guess I should try it out once when I graduate or before I leave  smile.gif
*
ah yea you need to make booking in advance but i am not sure how long in advance, before i make a booking, i need PEOPLE to go with me!! =( apparently it was top 5 in the world before this year, and it has now become the top 9...
