Yeah,it works here.

Im using 3's plan now.Not too bad.Just the signal can be weak at home and there is the ugly 3 logo on my phone.
Me too, havent dont anything today and yesterday.Played Sins of Solar Empire till 3 yesterday night. Then, woke up at 1 in the afternoon and watched Hot Fuzz.

Im so in deep shit.
What C plastic?

Need meh?
*
C plastic LOL sweat.gif

3 is quite popular amongst uni students even within my circle of friends, but yeah the complains about coverage do exist. Not many people use Optus but I think the cap plans are pretty decent as well. Meh, I'm using the pre-paid but it's already sufficient for my needs.

Public holiday tomorrow... but damn it so much to study and yet I don't think I'm making much progress. T_T

hmmm... well malaysian food wise... laksa king at new market, malaymas at brunswick and the straits at doncaster... they serve pretty good malaysian food... i hate nasi lemak house... mainly because the BOSS that is so unfriendly...

havent been to sambal kampung though...
*
Laksa King is probably the best Malaysian food in the whole of Melbourne, but still it's not as good as the authentic ones we get back home T_T

Nasi Lemak house is doh.gif... I guess everyone has a problem with the auntie boss there... Food-wise it's not exactly great either. Laksa King's nasi lemak is much better than the so-called Nasi Lemak house.

厨意at Franklin has pretty good Chinese cuisine, but the price is slightly steep... worth it though, esp if go with a bunch of people.

Two corrections:

Well I suppose 3 months isn't a long time, but for someone in a language school, methinks you need some improvement.

"methinks" is not proper English either, but it is in the dictionary so I'll let that one off. smile.gif

Erm... dude I think haya is just mucking around lah... Can't you see the irony in his post?

ill be going to aus on the 15th flight and everythign else all confirmed edi tongue.gif
going for unimelb 2nd intake, orientation on 21st.... kinda nervous XD

btw, for my laptop, and other electrical items, ive been told to buy the extension cord(the one with multiple sockets) and only 1 of those convertor plug, the one that changes malaysian pin to suit australian.
is that all i need? would i need anything else for my laptop, like a step down transformer or sometin? in case the voltage here and there are different?

ouh, and also, know where i can buy hoodies suitable for aus here? preferably within rm90 tongue.gif
*
welcome to melb... but it's winter now and it's like a fridge out there sweat.gif

Buy more convertor plugs just in case. Having more than one saves you the trouble esp when you have a lot of appliances brought over from Msia.
Hoodies? Are you a rich kid tongue.gif? For affordable ones just head over to Victoria market... 20-30AUD should suffice. High class ones just go to shopping malls... probably 30-50 or even more.

Enjoy all the msian food before you come dry.gif

Deliquent? Why? The locals do it all the time... so do the international students...

Come on people, go to small electrical shops and get the adaptors. I bought them for RM4.90 each whistling.gif whistling.gif

And yeah, 2 or 3 will be more than enough. I only brought two of them over and one of them is in my kitchen.

QUOTE(ark890 @ Jul 13 2008, 04:28 PM)
Life for professional degree courses like Architecture,Engineering, Medical in Australia is tough!
Unless your parents are millionaires funding your 3-4 years is near impossible.

This is not forgetting their super tough examinations and course works.

Read this news article: http://www.theage.com.au/news/education-ne...0765186626.html

It says foreign students have to survive on beans, weet-bix in plain water, free university bread hand-outs because of the surge in room rentals in Melbourne. Those greedy landlords cram up to 14 people into a single home with each person paying like AUD$150 per week while you only get to earn like AUD$100 per week doing odd jobs.

Quote from the news article above
KVReninem, can i ask how to you manage to beat the rising cost there?Seriously, just on rents, AUD$600-800 per month is insane. As I said, only millionaires can do professional degrees there. laugh.gif
*
Jimat cermat a bit loh my friend... no one forced you to come to Australia anyway tongue.gif

Still, if you're already here and the cost of living is a big burden... try to save as much as you can I guess... entertainment costs are the easiest to cut down. Screw cinemas... why bother paying 13-16 bucks when renting a DVD is available for 1 buck? Or just use BT whistling.gif Pubs... nah... why burn money there? Entrance fee is already a killer (unless you're a lass going during ladies' night)... don't drink so much loh... alcohol is bad for the liver.

The dire state of students cramping like sardines are not commonly seen I guess. Internationals students esp Malaysians are still pretty ok over here, but of course don't compare to wealthy Indonesian Chinese sweat.gif

Went to Mornington Peninsula today... very shiok ah, although spent most of the time driving around looking at Melway tongue.gif
Hot spring... WAHHHHHHHHHHHH.... shioknya...

hey, how's everybody, it's been quite a while from the last time I visited this thread...
hopefully you guys have already enjoy your winter trip playing snow at those snowy mountain in Australia...
*
Yeah... snow's nice, but kinda overrated... I wouldn't want to live in a place with lots of snow anyway... love the hot sun more than fluffy ice kacang all over the ground.

QUOTE(mrRighthand @ Sep 5 2008, 07:10 PM)
anyone stay in the melb uni area know where to get a cheap(-average) priced haircut? my fren went to one on the lygon st cost 45 dollar ==... they say must wash hair oso one coz in the package
*
Are you a guy or a girl? This matters a lot. tongue.gif

For guys who don't really give a shit about fancy hairstyles, the cheapest you can find is along Elizabeth St, there's a hair dressing academy there where students cut your hair for 7AUD. Dirt cheap, but don't expect super good quality... it's bearable lah haha... For girls it's better to stay away from there. My sister goes to one Korean owned place along La Trobe St (Or maybe Lonsdale, not sure)... usually 25-30AUD, but most of them can't converse well in English so sign language is kinda vital tongue.gif

I used to go to the 7AUD one... need to jimat lah, AUD-RM very expensive wei... then I found one small one owned by a Chinese lady along Melrose St. near North Melb. Around 12AUD and it's not too bad too. Again, don't expect supermodel haircuts and it'll suffice. You'll probably need some transport to get there though, unless you're willing to walk 30 mins, that is if you walk as fast as I do.
