I never see a Maybank branch here in aus.

i think maybank has a branch in sydney......but i don't think they do retail banking........

if you want to do intra bank transfer, try hsbc.......

otherwise, the cheapest way to transfer money is by bank draft.....
*
If it's like that, whats the point of opening a Maybank account if Sydney only have one branch?

I do agree, the cheapest way to send money is by bank draft.

i just check with bank customer support.

if a bank atm card with PLUS or cirrus sign/logo behind it , it is eligble to withdraw money from oversea atm, which also have the PLUS/Cirrus logo.

PLUS / Cirrus = Visa / Master, if we can withdrwa money with credit card in oversea atm, so do the bank atm card.

FYI, malaysian local bank like public, cimb ,alliance, doesn't support this kind of service except maybank. Alternatively, try UOB, HSCB/ Citibank , foreign bank had more branches overseas

Added on August 26, 2008, 11:17 pmso my earlier question is answered, i can use maybank atm card to receive money from my parents.  anyway thank you for all the suggestion
*
I dont think thats a good idea because when you get money from your parents in Malaysia, you will be getting about 10-15k AUD.Dont think you'll be carrying around that much money.Fees for each semester will cost you 8 to 10k.

Besides,if you are in UNSW,they wont accept cash for the fees payment.

It would be great for emergency use.

It's up to you.

If i were you,i would stay in Aus.Malaysia is getting politically unstable and they pay peanuts to engineers. Why still stay there when you have a better place to stay? You are paying a few 100ks to come here.

People are suggesting me to stay in Aus after i graduate, even a painting worker that painted my house last year.

Not any better in Brisbane. Mornings are freezing, but come 11am and its like summer all over again. I'm actually sweating as I walk around campus. Then when I cycle back at 6pm the wind blows away all the heat. I don't know about you, but my nose is killing me.
*
Yeah,Sydney is also like that. doh.gif

Last night was damn hot too.

well yeh.. limeuu is pretty true, however I think that if I stay oncampus, I could participate actively in extra mural activities since I'll already stay inside the campus area, rather den constantly wasting money on transportation going to and forth uni and apartment..
*
Do note that the colleges around UNSW are damn hard to get.

Probably you will have to stay in self catered apartments.

I don't know about diploma, but for foundation, I reckon it'd be easier to get into the same university for undergraduate after you finish your foundation. However having that said, choosing a foundation more or less restricts you in the choice of university you can choose later on as not all universities will accept the same foundation certificate.

@Cheesenium:
If you are talking about the uni self-catered apartments, they aren't easy to get either. Since they are on a first come first serve basis, you gotta apply really early to stand a better chance in getting them, and I think this would definitely put a new student at a disadvantage compared to the current students.
*
I mean those houses/rooms that you rent outside. Not the Unilodge.

I registered for it 5 months before i come to Sydney this year and i still didnt get it.

Okay. Which means now right after I have finished SPM then I can straight away go to Aus and take up the diploma course like accounting. I do not have to take up SAM in Malaysia before going there?

If you got SPM 1119 Certificate with a grade C6 and above you would not have to sit IELTS though or some english qualifications during A-lvls or SAM or 1 year of studies at uni
*
I got a B3 for 1119 and im still required to take IELTS.SPM1119's English standard is way too low to be used in uni.

Where did you get this info?

Non of the prospectus i had say they accept O-level english.

Dude; i`m not sure; but currently with the EST applied into education system; there is no IELTS required wink.gif
But for me; if you have the time to take IELTS; it will be better.
*
Huh?Where did you get that?

Im from the SPM batch with EST plus 1119.Aus uni representative say they only accept IELTS and a few other exams like TOEFL.1119 and EST is not in the list.

If not,why am i so free to waste RM500 on IELTS?
