hi guys... i'm just curious... how does the body of the guitar affect the sound?... like, LP is thru body rite? i know the body gives it a 'Les Paul Sound'..rite? but er..i just dun get it...i know the only thing tht detects the string vibration is the pickup? thanks..

There are many opinions from different people on this topic, I tend to believe the guitar material and pickups affect the sounds the most.
I guess the body affect the strings vibration which is then send to the pickups.

Two is One and One is None.

everything plays its part. from the overall construction / material / strings.
pickups, well since its electric of cos its a major part.
but think about acoustics...then u'll understand more on how everything comes into play.
for me, i buy electrics based on how they play and sound UNPLUGGED. if it sounds good unplugged, almost any pickup u stick in it will sound good also.
like strats unplugged, sounds trebly, likewise the amplified sound. and yes, u might make a strat sound like a les paul.
but if you ever tried something like that variax guitar. it might sound like the guitar its emulating, but the feel of that guitar isnt there.
like how a proton might sound like a ferrari...sound only... so again, everything plays a part.

... and there is also the finger factor.
you might be using the exact instrument/amp/cable that your mentor is using but your tone/sound would not necessarily be the same.

I believe that the amp plays a big role in tone...and your fingers too.

i guess the 1st thing is ur fingers....thats wher ur tone is steve lukather use to say, "u can giv me eric johnson's gita, and stil sound myself" then its the gita...the wood...the strings...the pickups....and parts... expensive guitars are mostli due to WOOD and workmanship gud WOOD gives u good TONE.... den the cables and effect pedals....if u go direct gitar-amp ul get max tone, provide wit gud cable... amp comes last
