Greetings smile.gif

I'm helping a friend of mine to enquire regarding "Data Encryption Software" for his MacBook Pro. He usually carry his laptop to travel around and afraid if the laptop lost or been stolen with his company's confidential data. I'm not sure about Mac OS but he's using something like OSX 10? Any recommendation for the data encryption software? unsure.gif

Thanks in advance nod.gif.

Helo,

What kind data encryption are you looking for?

- email? can use PGP - free some/paid some
- files/folder? can save on AES encrypted disk image - free (mac os x builtin)
- whole home folder (working space in the mac) - FileVault - free (mac os x builtin)

just for your info, mac os x builtin security is pretty good, it use 256bit key... military grade...

He told me that he's looking for some sort of data encryption software which can encrypte the HDD totally, would that be possible? sweat.gif

Or perhaps only a single drive which he saved all his data inside? unsure.gif

Hang on for a while and wait for TrueCrypt version 5 to be released (scheduled for Feb 4th) which will include a Mac OS X version. It's the best data encryption tool for Windows and hopefully it'll be just as good on the Mac.
