I learned from the internet that there were 2 types of vibrato, the wrist/hand vibrato and arm vibrato. I can't practise vibrato yet until i can get perfect intonation on my 1st postion.

Hi Storm04, I bought my violin around RM700++ at Early Venture Music, Taman Danau Desa. the violin he introduced to me has a good tone for beginner. the maker is Eastman Strings. I'm quite satisfied with the sound comparing to the RM300 one. If you are aiming for a warmer tone, then you should consider the over RM1k's violin, older wood, wooden tailpiece + synthetic strings. Last time when I bought my violin there, the boss there explained almost everything about the violin to me. you should go there and take a look. I don't have the address now.

maybe you need a tutor for the first few months, coz you definitely need them to correct you on your postures and methods. If you really wanna learn on your own, you can do a search on youtube. Benchanviolin and ProfessorV, they are both violin instructors. you can watch their earlier posts on violin basics.

last time my tutor quite good, she stressed on posture and bow-grip in the first few classes. When you are good enough, she'll focus on the richness of ur sound. too bad she isn't free during weekends. Nvm, I'll start looking for new tutor on April. I din use a mute, i just make sure my housemates heard the awful sound...hehe
