Just came across this thread. biggrin.gif

I play the violin semi professionally for some time now, and played for various private and open functions, normally in quartet setting. But now seldom play loh cause I'm focusing on pop music productions (mainly chinese industry). Almost never practice my violin now play like sh*t already... ohmy.gif

Actually I learned vibrato in the very early stage, my teacher tought me a very useful way of doing it, it's the finger join excercise to "free up" the joins (hard to describe in words, though). Quite easy, i'll say, due to the method. My vibrato is the finger join way, which is the most traditional way. Have heard people talking about other way but I haven't really seen it in person. hmm.gif

Just wondering you guys/gals who play the violin, is that your primary instrument? I pickup violin quite late but my primary instrument is piano anyway.

I learned from the internet that there were 2 types of vibrato, the wrist/hand vibrato and arm vibrato. I can't practise vibrato yet until i can get perfect intonation on my 1st postion.

Wrist vibrato is the IMHO the "correct" one. Minimum movement is essential, save the hand movement for shifting instead. nod.gif

Just thought of bump this thread a bit haha...

There're several chamber music going on MPO, have a look. Ticket very cheap only RM10, there're few interesting chamber pieces coming up so be sure to book ticket early! I went for the Beethoven violin sonata and Mendelson string quartet, nice!

Yeah RM10 is a fair price.
But the best is still RM 15 Student price for any seat in the house. Including Premium brows.gif

Anyone here knows the age limit for student price?

Hi all,

I stopped learning violin for about 3 months. I was waiting for a music school to assign a teacher for me but at last they do not have any teacher.

So I'm looking for a private teacher. Actually I learn for fun. Due to I'm a working adult, I may not able to have class every week. I heard from others there is pay-per-lesson class. Means I make appoitment with the teacher and pay after the lesson. Anyone know who is doing this?

Thanks.
