QUOTE(chosei @ Jan 30 2008, 11:27 PM) yah.. we are planning for the 'both to sign' policy.. thank you for the concern again.. Not sure how wise your choice is. And, not sure how sure you will get to husband-and-wife. It can be nasty to split if both of you can't handle it. BTW, how old are you both, if you don't mind? Then again, you have to check as some forumers are right. Some banks allow only related parties to open joint account. The better option is to individually open a separate account in Public Bank. Then diligently put in a specific amount every month. You can decide to hold the ATM and bank book. Anyway, it's entirely your decision.

QUOTE(b00n @ Jan 31 2008, 01:31 PM) Usually for husband and wife joint account, it's not advisable to have signed the "BOTH TO SIGN" statement. It's because in the event of emergency, both have to be there to withdraw the money which a lot of time is a hassle or not doable. Yes, very true. This is only applicable to husband-and-wife joint account. Oh, BTW, for husband-and-wife, it is always a must to have some sort of will. Otherwise it can be messy in settling those stuff later on.

QUOTE(chosei @ Jan 31 2008, 11:03 PM) both is abt 23 years old.. hmm.. i think ur idea to get own personal account is not bad.. actually the reason to open joint account is bcoz my bf hardly save money.. now thinking back, i think i shd not open a joint account.. i also don wan to feel like forcing him.. but he said he willingly to open the account.. sometimes, i forget abt opening joint account and he will remember to remind me to open the joint account.. actually, shd i open a joint account with him ?erm.. we do not plan to tk out the money.. that is jz for saving purpose.. Honest and frank but unpleasant direct answer: No. You guys are way too young for this. I bet you knew him for not too long and just started working. Anyway, don't get me wrong with any bad idea. Your thought of not forcing him is good. At least it won't turn him away with bad feeling. Well, perhaps I am refering to myself on this. Friend, how sure are you that you will never ever withdraw from it? bOOn asking you to 'Both to sign' is for just-in-case.
