hello... i always wanted to lower down the disturbing noise of the processor fan.
so please suggest any ways to remove the processor fan, i plan to use a longer, wider and bigger heatsink for my CPU.

i heard there is some electronic stuff that can transfer heat in one direction...
wonder what is it. need help here...

btw my processor is a Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 wolfdale OC to 2.8Ghz
planing to use a Core 2 Quad heatsink, but without the active fan.

avoid copper if you're aiming for low air flow. Copper does indeed absorb heat very efficiently, however, they need a good amount of CFM to dissipate them. Go for combo like copper base/ alu fins. Alu works very well with low airflow.

@TS, if the noise annoys you, its not nescessary to go passive, get a good heatsink and pair it with a low cfm fan and it will work very well, a litle air flow helps ALOT in improving your temperatures. If possible, get coolers that runs 12cm fans, 12cm fans generate the least noise with good cfm rate. You can try TT bigtyphoon, or if ur budget allows, Xigmatek S1283 or Thermalright Ultra 120 or Ultima 90i. HR-01 is a good passive cooler as well.

its called peltier, and basically, its a BIG power hog. Not recommended for 24/7 usage bro. And you will need a HSF to work with it too.

use a heatsink and its fit to spread the coolness
not those heatpipe heatsinks, just attact the normal NB heatsink will do. and place an air to to exhaust air from the heatsink

I think passive cooling for CPU wouldn't be good enough. If you want something quiet then WC is the best bet.
